  1. I think there is a lot to learn re: concussions and the potential for other brain-related issues that can result. My daughter missed a backside on her wakeboard a few years ago and landed on the back of her head from about 4' up around 17mph. She didnt feel well and got back in the boat, didnt board again (for years actually). She had suffered a concussion several years before in competitive cheer (talk about a sport FULL of concussions). Then, after the wakboard fall, she fell in her apt while attempting to sit down and hit the back of hear head again. Really long story short...she was a double major bio and chem, honors student and she began to struggle w/ her studies. It was really her insistance not to give up after one dr told her she was 'ok'. Ultimately she utilized physical therapy and while that brought relief she still wasn't her old self...she persisted to follow up on the mental health side and was diagnosed with a mild case of bi-polar disorder. She's worked with mental health professionals, on prescription medication and currently in her 2nd year of dental school and top 25 in her class. Her doctors have told her that repeated concussions can lead to undiagnosed mental health illness. As the dad, unfortunately my old school theory was "shake it off, you're ok" after that wakeboard fall. Now I know better. Accidents can happen any time, any where. Make sure if you even think you have a concussion, seek qualified medical care right away.
  2. Agree 100% on Zane’s commentary he’s doing a great job. And @MarcusBrown stopped by for a fun chat too. It’s cool how both of those guys just love the sport and the fun of it! Thanks for the go fund me link, didn’t know about it, but made a donation to help a little
  3. @LeonL my bad. I’m so used to referring to “South Florida” as its part of my sales territory…I missed the “W”.
  4. Left handed - LFF but pullout with rope on left side of ski. I’ve tried many times to pull-out with the “correct” rope on the right side but cannot. I play tennis LH, write LH but play golf and guitar RH. Left leg is stronger as evidenced by numerous PT visits over the past few years…related to minor ski injuries…it’s a work in progress to build up right leg strength.
  5. McGinnis Ski School near Ft Lauderdale.
  6. My favorite was and is my '92 PS205. 351HO, 815hrs. Solid, dependable, inexpensive to operate, PP Stargazer good enough. Original vinyl too. Great wake, but chine spray at shortline (to keep you alert):)
  7. This product has done the best job of removing black stains from the teak on my older MC.
  8. @skibrain - The Fluid suit I found on ebay was a nightmare to get. I thought I'd been scammed but the buyer finally shipped WEEKS late. But for $300 was worth the wait, skied warm and dry into January 2020 and back out in March. Gamechanger. Glad I tried to revivie the Assault suit but just no way to make them dry (as others have discovered).
  9. I read this and thought "wow, that is cool!" Then I realized my wife will be 60 in October, has been skiing since she was 10 and still loves it to this day. She is a breast cancer survivor, skis 3-4 times/week in the summer, dons a wetsuit in the fall and goes as long as she can in the cooler months. We freeski and hit the course a few times a month on public water. She doesn't ski the course, but drives it. We have an old boat as well, '92 MC 205 w/ perfect pass. A few years ago, she got a Radar Butterknife for the reasons you mentioned getting a new ski and loves it. It is no longer in production but the Session (I think) took its place. I see @mike_mapple has reached out to you - follow his advice and you'll find a ski you love. And yes, you will love it more than your old Impulse.
  10. @Luv2Ski You're welcome. And I'll add that I'm left-handed and had the procedure on my left wrist. 100% recovery with no loss of grip strength or functionality in any way.
  11. Sorry, I just saw this but it's one topic on BOS I'm qualified to answer. I had endo carpal tunnel surgery years ago at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO by Dr. Viola. For years I dealt with numbness, tingling, pain, no sleep and general discomfort. I was living in Winter Park, CO at the time - spending a lot time skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. Eventually the discomfort lead me to seek a surgeon after trying splints, yoga, stretching and every other non-surgical option. Bottom line: The night after the procedure I slept better than I had in years and wondered why I postponed that decision. @Rw3 's information mirrors my timeframe of recovery. With any surgery I think following the recovery protocol is extremely important and pushing it or testing the limits could result in less than 100% recovery or greatly extend the time period. Personally speaking, I would seek a surgeon with a high level of expertise in endo carpal tunnel release. Dr. Viola came highly recommended by several friends on the US Ski Team (no surprise they needed an ortho LOL). I've since encountered folks that have shared no-so-great results from the open procedure from local doctors in the area I now reside. Bottom line: my recommendation is find a highly qualified endo release specialist, give yourself PLENTY of recovery time and schedule the procedure. If your results are anything like mine, you will wonder why you suffered so long. BTW, my procedure was almost 20 years ago and lots of cycling, tennis, golf and slalom later I have no issues with carpal tunnel.
  12. Not sure if you want LT-1 b/c of HP or efi? The bolt on marine version of the Holley Sniper FI conversion kit has received favorable reviews from those who have converted. If you are eliminating carbed boats b/c you want EFI - that would open up a lot of boats in the used market. I'm old school, my '92 205 w/ 351h.o. and Holley carb and Acme 541 gets the job done quite nicely. Doesn't have throttle response of efi and she takes a minute or two to warm up....but at 60y/o...so do I.
  13. I own the Carbon Omni, same model year as in your second picture. Great ski!
  14. I hardly feel qualified to answer, but..I ski the carbon Omni stock settings. Free ski anywhere from 15-32 off @34mph and course is 15off at 29mph. It's an awesome ski, fast but predictable and stable. Not sure what ski you were on before the Omni but it sounds more like a technique issue than a problem with the ski. Maybe your older ski required you to generate speed/angle past the second wake? You need to take advantage of the early speed the Omni generates from the turn - try not pulling through the second wake would be my suggestion. FWIW I'm 185 pounds on a 67". You could also post a link or video of your skiing here for feedback.....
