  1. So far so good. I mixed the two and brushed the first coat, let it soak and wiped the excess. A few more brushed coats and I’ll let it dry and take a few pics. It had gone completely grey but no black the last year due to a hurried launch this Spring. We don’t have water at the pier (common pier) or power so if I don’t do it at home it’s not happening. This Fall I pulled early due to low lake levels and potential retrieval difficulties. Lots of time to winterize, clean, teak, etc.
  2. I probably could use a little search education. In any case does anyone remember off hand the ratio of linseed oil to mineral spirits for teak preservation?
  3. I tried to find a reasonably priced Ave hours Nautique 200. I gave up and bought an 08 Prostar 197TT. I saved $15-$20k. If I do upgrade it will be in 3-4 years.
  4. OK—a bit of a needle in a haystack, but I am at a loss where to buy or obtain a small threaded eye that snapped last evening on my second free-ski set with my son. I wrote a note to the warranty email address on the website thinking that may be the best way (and sent photos). I really like the hinge binding concept as it is very easy and fast to put on and holds nicely. Thanks to all of you for any help or advice here.
  5. The jury has rendered a verdict. The 2008 197TT is a great slalom tug. Everyone who has skied behind it says it’s better than the 205, and I like it too. 15-22 off there’s a soft hump but at shorter lines it’s amazing. We all like the Zero Off but we’ve had to learn to ski behind the boat on keyhole turnarounds to avoid hitting light speed!
  6. Every time you pull wires off of plugs you run a slight risk of ruining the terminal end. 500 hours isn’t so much the issue. Years take their toll. Get a good long wire from an unused set and just swap it in for each wire. Also: Bad cap out of the box can be an issue. Check continuity from inside to each rotor contact outside the cap to make sure you’re ok there.

  8. I did not see where you’ve replaced the clear plastic tube in the FCC with the rubber hose that Skidim sells. That plastic tube cracks and causes pressure drops. I am thinking your problem is ignition related. As a matter of fact, I’m going to wager a guess it’s a single bad wire or bad cap contact. Swap out one wire at a time with a fresh one. It would not take more than 15 minutes to nail that possibility down.
  9. One quick check would be to temporarily pull the temp sensor to see if limp mode disappears. Could be a bad sensor getting set off when heat soak occurs after a pull set or run across the lake.

  11. How does the 2008 TT compare to post 2013 new hull? I skied begins a 2018 and it was magnificent—similar to new Nautique 200. Is the ‘08 TT even close to the tiny wake these latest gen hulls produce? I’m likely to buy the 08 due to economics because the newer gen hills are $20k more.

  13. I’m considering a 2008 MC and wonder how it’s wake compares to the boat I currently ski behind which is a 1993 205. I like a small wake as a recreational skier who is just beginning to challenge the course. I ski 32 at 22 off regularly.
  14. I’m just seeing pricing that’s higher now than 3-4 years ago on 200’s. I reallly thought somehow I could get into a basic 200 for $35k and not have to get a high hour boat. Soooo. As a Nautique owner until today, I really love the brand. Unfortunately my comfort level doesn’t allow me to pay $45k for a 9 year old ski boat. That’s just me I guess. So—looking at 197TT

  17. Until you check your fuel pressure you won’t be able to solve this. It sounds distinctly like a failing low pressure fuel pump. Heat soak causes real Issues like this. If you’re on your original low pressure pump it’s time to replace it but please verify with fuel pressure first. There’s a poor man’s GT-40 troubleshooting guide on Correctcraftfan that is head and shoulders the best thread anywhere for troubleshooting these engines. I had a fuel starvation issue when I bought my used 96 Super Sport and had to go through a similar roadmap. It was my low pressure pump that solved the problem. You will find a whole host of little things that can go bump in the night but you’ll solve this.
  18. Oh my that’s just so hard to imagine happening to anyone just out for a nice ski. Releasable bindings are coming to my setup. Looking at your x-rays on Halloween really scares me!
  19. Use propylene glycol and you won’t ruin the impeller.
