Having done the same last summer, you have my sympathy... Thankfully back to 100% now, but should probably invest in a new vest or protective shirt.

This spring I bought a 2000 PS195 (same boat as the X5 but no tower or ballast system) and sold a '92 PS190. Very happy with the move. Slalom wake is not as good as the 190 was, but it's still great--the boat is not holding my skiing back in any way. I'm a 31.3 mph 15 off free skier. I prefer the 195 to the 190 in every way other than slalom wake, but even that is not far off. More comfortable, more power, smoother in chop, more space, better wakeboard wake (my 10 year old wakeboards--using a fly high but no ballast yet). Not sure if the weight of a tower would impact the slalom wake, but you could always remove it. The link @Broussard posted above has all the info anyone could want on these boats.

As a heads up--The House has HO Girls Omni's in 63 and 65 for $130. I ordered one with an XMax front and FreeMax RTP from them, shipped to my door for $215 total.

This is awesome! As a Milwaukee resident, I'd love to see an event come back to this venue.

Oh man, if we didn't already have vacation plans I'd be jumping on this for myself and my daughter.

There is one surf boat that is on our 75 acre lake every Saturday and Sunday. The people on it are very nice, and other than power turning to pick up downed riders, they do a better job than most of maintaining distance from and respecting other lake users. But their barge is still a menace. Kids won't ski or wakeboard if it's out. We've added (literally) tons of rock to our shoreline to try to protect it the last couple years and it's still getting damaged in a way that didn't happen five years ago. These boats are stupid. Surfing is stupid. I can jump a wakeboard wake to wake on my PS195 without any ballast (did it to show my 9 year old it was possible). I'm a grumpy old man who loves slalom, and this very well stated post got me revved up. Sorry.

I'm not seeing rib protection listed in the description of any of the vests mentioned. I'm looking for a jacket with some protection for when I get back on the water after cracking a couple ribs last weekend. Any recommendations for a vest with that as the primary criteria? Current vest is an O'Brien Tech which is really comfy, but no side protection. **edit--looks like the Camaro does mention shock protection for the rib cage on PerfSki's site

I'm on the injured list... Saturday of fathers day weekend had a good slalom run in the morning, towed the family around for a few hours on skis, wakeboards and tube, and then took a couple runs on my new HO Hovercraft. That thing is fun--but I pushed it too hard trying to jump the wake and crashed flat on my side after a wonky landing. Pretty sure I've got two cracked ribs. Was in moderate pain for the rest of the day, real pain the day two, and day three was misery. Today is day four and it's a little better than yesterday, but but I'm aware of it at all times and amy movement brings pain and there is no mistaking when the Ibuprophen wears off... I'm working on being ok with missing a big chunk of the precious lake season here in WI...

@Hucklefin we ski at Pine Lake west of Milwaukee when I'm home and have a cabin on Spencer Lake in Waupaca. Where are you? I'd love to keep both boats but I have a wife...

We are headed south for spring break next week and I'm picking up this PS195 on the way home. I'll be listing my '92 PS190 for sale when it comes out of storage mid April and think I might try eBay. Forever ago I sold my first inboard on eBay (and came out ahead by a couple thousand after owning for two years) but that hasn't seemed like the best way to sell a boat for quite a while. I sold my last two on Craigslist. With people eager to find good boats and selling at the beginning of the season, I think it may work in my favor. New: Old:

Jumping on this thread as it is in the ballpark of my PP question. I added Wake Edition S to my boat, new direct from Perfect Pass in April this year. It overshoots the speed by a few miles an hour and then settles back down to the set speed. This isn't a big deal--we're open water skiers. The issue is when we get to the end of the lake and spin around it significantly speeds up and takes a while to settle back down. Is that normal? Going to check which version my PP has this weekend.

Heater parts, including electric pump, have all been ordered and the boat comes out of storage this week. Perfect Pass is here waiting for install too. For those of you who have the pump as part of your heater, did you power it off of the fan for the heater, so the pump speed correlates to the fan, or did you put it on a separate switch? The listing on Amazon says the pump is .7 amps. Listing for the heater from Jegs shows three speeds, at Low 5.5 Amps, Med 7.1 Amps, and High. I'm no electrical engineer, just looking for the best install method. @braindamage @UWSkier

Thanks for the insight on the pump @braindamage and @UWSkier. Question on plumbing--isn't the return from the heater before the raw water pump? Meaning, if you try to use the pump for the heater with the engine off, the raw water pump would not allow flow through the engine block? Or do you plumb the return after between the raw water pump and the block when installing a system with a pump?

On the Wye fitting and pump--it would be less expensive to add a pump and T fitting (22 total, may need a couple brass fittings though) than it is to buy the Wye fitting... Pump at Amazon T fitting at Amazon But it's one more thing to wire in. Simplicity with the Wye, or just put the pump in from the get go? Also--want to confirm that the fan on the heater is safe for marine use. I can't find anything regarding the heater linked at Jegs above, but Summit carries Maradyne heaters, and while their site doesn't state they are marine, others do. I fear I've now spent enough time researching this that going with the Heatercraft kit may have been a better decision... But, I'm a DIY'er at heart so this is what I do, for better or worse.

Looking for feedback on piecing together a heater kit, below are the parts I plan to use. $20 in the budget for wiring and hose clamps puts the cost a hair over $400 plus tax, and it covers everything in the Heatercraft 300 pro kit which is $650. What am I missing? Maybe more blower hose? Add shutoff valves? Hey @cougfan what does the connection of the hose to the heater core look like? The Jegs stuff looks like a really good way to get this done for half of the cost marine kits. Did you buy the water hose and fittings from Jegs too?

@Orlando76 I'm with you. My Sequoia is a 2010, currently at 140k miles. Routine maintenance and one AC recharge. That's it for work needed. You can buy a lot of gas with money not spent on repairs.

I'm fast becoming a Toyota fanboi. Bought my 2010 Sequoia with 91k on it three years ago. Now at 138k. The only thing it has needed other than routine maintenance (and lots of gas) is a recharge on the AC. They seem expensive for a vehicle that has been pretty much exactly the same for over a decade (if looking new), but the reliability is amazing. If the size is right for you and an older platform doesn't bother you, it would be hard to go wrong.

I've got a World Team in the rafters of my garage. It was replaced by a Connolly V (not carbon) and it was a great upgrade. I'm now on a Carbon Omni, which I like a little better than the Connolly. I would love to try out a Carbon V sometime. Bang for the buck, a Connolly V would be a great option in my opinion. I'd skip the World Team.

Think I'm going to move forward as if I'm going to keep this boat long term and continue investing in improvements for it. @tlarocque yes, we are on Spencer Lake, which ten minutes east of the Chain. I'm told that the best way to get good water is to head to the river by Freemont, about 20 minutes east on HWY 10, but I've never splashed the boat there.
