  1. Huge fan of my syndicate dryflex suit
  2. That 1 ball folllowed by world record is mind blowing.
  3. So 1:1 gear ratio means some people might prefer an earlier hookup that a letter bump would provide? ie moving from say A2 to B2? Is that the take away here? So some pros perhaps ski behind the Malibu and feel the pull is coming on later than it does with MC and SN so they bump up? I'm less interested in bashing Malibu and more interested in the goal and factors going into the decision-making process. For what its worth I skied my last PB behind the Malibu so for a sub par mediocre skier like me it seems to work great.
  4. Watching the webcast of the Malibu Open. Lots of talk on the webcast of skiers switching up their normal ZO settings on the Malibu. I don't recall that much discussion at other events running SN or MC boats. Anyone have insight into the theory here? What are they hoping to achieve? What specifically about the Malibu is driving this?
  5. Honestly as long as it isn’t a subscription I’d pay even more than $20. (I’m tapped out on the subscription economy).
  6. My point (and I recognize it is not popular with this audience) is we should be raising the bar here. My wife will watch TWBC with me and she’s not a skier. She finds it entertaining in its own right. She got bored with this coverage after 5 minutes. Current coverage is for enthusiasts only. Professional sports in order to be successful need to appeal to a wide audience not just the most rabid enthusiasts. I’m still watching and enjoying. I’m about as addicted as they come though.
  7. Hot take … If you can’t afford or are unwilling to hire TWBC you shouldn’t be hosting pro events.
  8. I spoke with someone on the team. It’s actually substantially more. They need to move the ramp and also during the process of the move they had a large amount of equipment stolen that they need to replace.
  9. Spring mountain ranch I believe. They need to move their jump from Firebird. Its a longer drive but my understanding is it’s a much nicer training site. Having skied the dirty bird myself I can attest it is “diffferent”.
  10. As many of you know the ASU team recently lost access to their long time training site and are in the process of moving to a new lake. Unfortunately the costs are substantial and if they are unable to raise the necessary funds they are at risk of shutting down the team. To go collegiate team of the year to shut down would be devastating for these kids Please consider donating if you can spare even a small amount. https://gofund.me/fa1a08f6 My daughter is headed to ASU next year as a freshman and a big part of her decision to head there was the water ski team. I hope we can all help this crew out and give her and the rest of her class a chance to experience collegiate waterskiing.
  11. FYI the team as at an even bigger risk now due to the move. please donate if you can. https://gofund.me/c4b61871
  12. Could not agree more. My daughter learned the slalom course at 12 on a 62 TRA. She improved drastically. This past year she grew like 2 inches over the winter and I started the season with her on the 62 thinking it would still be fine given she was at 25mph. It was petrifying. Constantly looking like she was going out the front. Actually ended up having a really bad out the front as well. Could barely ski the course at 25. I thought it was technique. Finally had a coach say the ski looked too small. Got her on a 65. Turned into a breakout season.
  13. Sign the petition and help them get some coverage. https://www.change.org/p/save-iowa-state-water-ski?signed=true
  14. @DavidN yeah I was just happy when they told me they were tired of worrying about whether they had a wedgy or not during a set with a regular suit bottom. You want more coverage? cool here's my credit card! :D
  15. Elizabeth M is even wearing some in the sidebar ad here. Thanks @ral will investigate
  16. Can one of the 3 women in this forum help me out? :) My teen girls want me to get them those little short shorts you see a lot of the women wearing for slalom (Regina, Jamie B ) . I have no idea what they are actually called or where to buy them though. Any help for a clueless dad?
  17. @Hallpass I did not do the build class for her (it's an option, not a requirement). She wasn't into it. I did the class myself a few years ago and it was super fun. I have a bit of a Parlor problem myself. Full quiver at this point.
  18. I have made so many mistakes as a parent I stopped counting. However, I think maybe a I did something right along the way. Gifted my oldest daughter some custom skis for Christmas this year and she just finished the designs
  19. My story is kind of a cheat I'll admit. First time I skied a course was in college in the mid 90's. Grew up freeskiing and didn't even know competitive skiing was a thing until just before college. I had zero coaching and really had no clue what I was doing. My college PB was barely getting through 15 off at 36mph and the only way I was able to do that was pure grit. After college I had no access to skiing for close to 20 years. I free skied like twice a year. Not one single set in a course though. In 2016 I finally got a proper boat, upgraded my ski established some access to a course and leaned in hard to the sport. Slalom is my golf now. I've been getting coaching at various spots several times a year, learning as much as possible. Got on my C85 and got it pretty well dialed in. This past summer I got around 5 ball at 32off (34mph) and running the pass felt totally doable. My current stretch goal is to get through 35off before I turn 51. 3 more seasons ...
  20. The FM wing angle gauges work on Denali CG fin with no spacers https://fluidmotionsports.com/collections/products-accessories/products/fm-angle-gauge They are Huge! Site says they are out of stock on a bunch of angles but it's way out of date. Just contact them and I'm sure they will have what you need.
  21. @lpskier I'm on Rev R, might upgrade to Rev S in the off season ... not sure how ZO would effect the wake shape and composition though. Again in case something got lost to subtly ... I love my boat and how it skis. Edit: I just checked my head unit and I'm already on Rev S. I upgraded July 2019 but can't keep track of what the latest letter is.
  22. I have a 2018 200 6.0L and start at 22/34mph. I find it punishes you for bad form. If I pull too long or I’m not in alignment I get bucked and twisted or bent over every time. On a newer Prostar I don’t have this problem, I can get away with much worse ski form at the open. So for me I find this kind of an ok thing at least for training. Do it right and I’m fine. Do it badly and she lets me know right away.
  23. There is no such thing as a professional water skier. If you can't earn a living doing it you are not a professional. Just levels of ability and achievement. The people we call "pros" are just the best of the best. The definition os U17 and U21 is right there in the name and it has nothing to do with whether they crossed some threshold of "goodness".
  24. Feels like this belongs on the wall at the Ridge. Peace and love to you and your family Marcus.
