  1. So good! The guys do a fantastic job working through how skiing works starting with the fundamental principles skiers need to understand. I always thought a relationship with a boat was keeping it clean :p Thanks @Chris Rossi for the help when I reached out.
  2. Always enjoy skiing with Stephen or having him around the water at the lake. Down to earth and super chill. Makes it look so easy.
  3. I want to say my friend had that boat but closed bow which could make a difference. That said, it skied well for us @ 15 -32 off. I had a Moomba 2012 at the time and the wake on the 206 was softer for sure which was nice.
  4. @skihart join the site and get a video lesson. It is a no brainer. Warning!! Once you do it you really need to communicate with the people you ski with about what you are doing to avoid coaching or boat speeds/line lengths that are not in alignment with what you are working on. I battle this with the people I ski with and other coach types that pull me...some disagree with what I am doing (staying at slower speeds or longer lines) but they do not disagree with my progress!
  5. To focus on my coach's ( @twhisper ) training tips, video more, and to be more assertive with my boat driver and/or "coaches" as to what I want to achieve and do each set.
  6. Novice question: do you duct tape your fingers individually, is that what you are speaking to @Shell ?
  7. The nautique's wake is softer than the Outback for sure. A friend had a 2004 and I preferred the wake and driving vs the Outback. I would go that route if I was in the same place of looking at those types of boats again.
  8. I had a 2012 outback up to last year. I agree with what @wtrskier197 says. Great family boat, little higher off water in the bow for less advanced drivers (waves). I shaved the rudder on mine and could have likely taken more off but it made a difference for sure. I'd say that is a must if you are skiing the course. We found the wake skied as good as my friends Malibu response lxi 07.
  9. @markn Thank you for the information/input. I think I need to experiment with the different letters more...after digesting the PDF and your explanation of where one may like the pull, I think that A could be a possibility since I am working getting into a strong position during the turn and having a bit of time before the pull may help.
  10. 2 questions: 1 - at what level of skiing should you consider playing with ZO? 2 - what is the best way to go about trying the settings? i.e. a2, b2, c2 then +, or a1, a2, a3 and so on. I would think that you would settle on a letter first and then adjust numbers and + settings? I am only 2 years in the course and skiing b2, running 15 off @ 34mph 50% of the time so this topic could be ahead of my ability.
  11. Had ACL reconstruct and Meniscus "fix" December 7. Feeling really good considering. Need to figure out my skiers elbow for next season too...that one is a pain in the $%&*. Time for a focused PT over the next 5 months.
  12. TW's website is great and he has a ton of video uploaded. The way he zooms in, stops & starts the skier, and compares his skiing or others (lot's of Nate on there), is awesome.
  13. I am waiting because of our system up here. Do I spend 15k-20k to go private now or wait the 11 months for public funding. That's a whole other issue up here...our system needs adjustment to support both the public and private sides. @thager my ACL was torn in 2015 so it's almost disappeared as of my last MRI and the surgeon has no concern about that. The good news is I can ski in the meantime, in fact skiing seems to have the least amount of impact on my knee compared to any of the other physical activities that I do.
  14. @mmosley899 I am on a wait list and have planned to schedule the surgery for next fall (late Sept). I know I have to do the meniscus and ACL, as you stated without the ACL the meniscus will continue to tear. I am going to brace up while skiing this year and focus on ACL strength to try and limit the movement and chance of tweaking the meniscus again. Maybe I get in in the next month on the wait list...This site continues to amaze me in regards to the amount of information and experience one can glean!
  15. Yes, @gregy I've considered it and I can get it done privately here as well. I would like to avoid the price tag. @MrJones I appreciate the feedback.
  16. @zman Thank you. I have a DonJoy and I agree it likely all needs to get done. I've been without ACL for 3 years and skied hard with no issues/no brace therefore my curiosity of not getting the ACL done if I cant get in quickly. See the surgeon tomorrow.
  17. @cragginshred I posted on this above and now my meniscus is become a major issue, I need it cleaned up for sure and have the ruptured ACL (both on back leg). What I am struggling with is that I am stable outside of the joint crap going on due to the bucket handle meniscus. I get the sense the best bet is to get both items taken care of but up here in Canada we have little control of when we get in for surgery...I am hoping to get lucky with a date before xmas which would leave next season a realistic outcome for me. My question is: if I cannot get in asap, I was thinking about doing the meniscus and then seeing how I do and if things deteriorate having the ACL done in the spring time if when it's required. I appreciate any feedback from a fellow skier with surgical experience. Matt
  18. I subscribe to the @twhisper methodology and focused on a couple key items (body position at the ball and through the wakes). Skiing most of my passes slower (4 of 6) and then the last couple at my higher speed. Started the year having to reduce the speed to 28mph 15off to make my passes. Due to injury I am now done skiing, but I progressed from 28 mph 15 off to 34 mph 15 off and completing about 50% of the time, with a pb at 4.5 22off 34 mph. Our season starts mid May. Focusing on one aspect or one actual technique at slower speeds. Example: chest and handle high at the ball. Has helped me sink that form in. But I would say the hardest part of skiing is taking the coaching you trust and applying it to everyday scenarios with 20 different coaches around you. You mentally have to learn how to acknowledge them and not listen or set the rules for the ski before the advice is presented. I now tell people what I am focused on and how the pass will go (no speeding up boat driver!) so they focus on watching me execute those items vs their items.
  19. @"Keith Menard" I thought you may get a kick out of this Instagram from the guy who confirmed my purchase. Plus one more pic...yaya I am proud owner like everyone who loves their boat.
  20. @"Keith Menard" Look what I ended up with this year. Ran into it by fluke and very happy. I was informed this was the boat from the 2018 brochure after I bought it.
  21. @usaski1 I upgraded from a 2012 outback to 2018 Prostar this year. I was not looking to spend as much by buying a 2018 however, it has been a fantastic decision. Honestly one of the best purchases I've every made for the experience it creates for everyone on the water. I found the Outback tough to drive in the course with anyone behind it under 22 off. I had shaved the rudder with some success on the Outback but not enough to control some of my better friends nor have my wife pull me. Unfortunately the Prostar is just better in all aspects. As you know the layout of the boat is phenomenal. You will want to make sure you understand the options if buying one...carpet, bow cover, rear seats (if your on the lake and just not running sets) are all a must IMO. You will not regret looking at a newer Prostar, but no one on this site can tell you how to spend/value your money.
  22. I have dragged forever and find my back foot is in before I am on plane. However, wearing a rear knee brace now I may start back foot in as the drag pulls hard on the brace as @Bookm_dano noted with his shin guard. @BraceMaker and @vtmecheng you are basically using techniques to get the tip of the ski down/flat on the water without submarining it at the start if I read your tips correctly?
  23. @FSSPCat trainwithterrywinter.com. @twhisper has set up a fantastic site for Q@A information, video tutorials to watch, and his personal video analysis of your skiing is awesome. Detailed and simple instruction that you can go back to over and over. I have not spoken to anyone who has been disappointed. FWIW
  24. @FSSPCat I passed Chetermere on our way to a hockey tournament this winter and thought there must be people on that lake. Unfortunately not only skiers. PB should be close now.....and Shalom up in Edmonton could be this weekend.
