  1. Yes I replaced the 4 pin JDAB cable. I did it with a generic cable off amazon but I don't see that making any difference vs using the polk branded cable. The original polk cable in there seems to be in fine condition. I got rid of the Y splitter and wired the linc directly to the polk unit, no difference. I have read people having issues with the polk unit, mine seems to be fine and has no issues with bluetooth. Linc version is 2011030.2.7.10466/ 3EMY2015 Application - 2.7.10219 OS 2.7.20021 Bootloader 2.7.20045 Config 2.3.15030 I don't think the firmware has been upgraded, when you click on the stereo button on the linc screen it displays the polk logo. Thanks for any help. The closest dealer is 3 hours away, not looking for a long trip just for the stereo.
  2. I got a new to me 2017 SN200. Everything works great except I can not get the Polk AU4A head unit to communicate with the linc system. I tried replacing the cables between the two and get nothing. The stereo works fine on its own but its a pain to have to go in the glove box whenever you want to adjust the volume etc. Is there firmware updates or anything I should be looking for?
  3. I used Sikkens sealer on my platform for years after dealing with sun fading out the teak oil. Held up much better and would spend 5 minutes at the end of each season lightly sanding where a fin may have scratched the platform and then filling that in with the sealer. Platform looked brand new all the time. It was slightly slippery for about a week after applying, then it was like any other platform.
  4. Hucklefin, We put the buoys in as soon as the ice melts. When the river is low we can pull everything to the surface and just clip on balls. No need to get wet. Once the spring floods start we would have to dive to connect everything. However once the balls are in we usually can't help it and start skiing. I think the water was 37F for the first run this year.
  5. Course is right next to the airport. We put it in about 5 years ago. We let the UWL kids ski it and help them out if they want. If he skis with them he will certainly be skiing it.
  6. I am a bit south but we have a permanent course down in Lacrosse as well. Nothing that I know of up in your area.
  7. I do not have experience with POR15. We paint all our dock poles with acrolon which are 12in diameter steel poles that are 40ft long. There is constant wave action with the dock roller going on them and I have not had to repaint anything in 6 years. For my business we have coated equipment going in to harsh environments like salt water and waste water treatment facilities and it has held up well. Like anything you paint it is all about the prep work.
  8. Sherwin Williams Acrolon will last forever. It is a 2 part epoxy paint. You have to use the primer made for it first. It is a bit on the pricey side but it is used in nasty environments all the time and holds up great.
  9. This was 15 years ago but I took a jump crash and injured my elbow pretty bad. The secondary insurance from USA Waterski was easy to deal with and paid out every penny my own insurance would not cover. It probably ended up close to $5k with all the rehab. I was happy. I'm sure a lot could have changed in that time but that was my experience.
  10. I have had perfect pass stargazer in my boat for the past 12 years. It has always worked flawlessly. I just took the boat out of storage and it locked in a GPS signal right away, got up to speed an it engaged like it should. I drove the first pass through the course and it was locked on a speed but never started beeping and timing in once we hit the entrance gates. I remapped the course and ran it again and the same thing happened. I turned it off and back on and still the same. It is locked on the course and getting accurate coordinates. Any ideas on what to try to get it recognizing the course again?
  11. I may know of one.... My ski partner has a 50th anniversary with probably about 300 hours on it. He has an order in for a new one, however not sure when that will come in. He will be selling his when the new boat comes in. Message me if you want some more info.
  12. My son wanted a new slalom ski and vest from Santa this Christmas so I placed an order for a new radar TRA and vest with the local dealer back in September. I get that supply chains are all messed up and do not expect it in time for Christmas anymore. Just wondering if anyone has insight on how backed up Radar is in getting orders fulfilled right now and delivered to the dealers (in many cases I assume the product is built and just sitting waiting to be delivered).
  13. I know the dealer very well. He is pretty tired of the sale of this falling through. The process is quite a bit like buying a car. You go in to the dealership you find your car, agree on price and then go to the financing guy (assuming you didn't get pre approved from your own bank). They go a run a credit check and find out you can't qualify for this boat. He said a lot of people are trying to use their stimulus cash to buy a boat but that only goes so far. As soon as he puts it back up for sale he usually has a call on it within a day. Boat sales are crazy right now. I think they have a total of about 3 boats on their lots right now.
  14. That is my buddy's boat. He just traded it in for a new 2021 prostar. It has around 500hours. It says sale pending because the dealer has "sold" it 8 times now with every buyer unable to secure financing for it. If you walk in with cash its yours.
  15. Do you know which cylinder is misfiring? You can wear a thick rubber glove and pull each wire off the cap one at a time to figure out which cylinder is having the issue. Once you have identified the bad one you can then go about replacing the wire, spark plug, check compression etc. I just had the same problem this spring at start up. Ended up being a loose connection on the injector to cylinder 1. Tightened it up and everything runs great, but I was able to use this technique and find which cylinder, then verify spark, compression and finally find out it wasn't getting gas.
  16. Go buy a 20lb danforth anchor with some chain. Dive down and dig it in out away from your dock and put about 50ft of rope off it. Tie the back of the boat to the tree. If set properly that anchor will hold that boat no problem.
  17. Back in college Paul let us host two tournaments a year at Tivoli. His only requirement for that was we had to bring him a six pack of beer (nothing domestic) and we had to drink it with him when we were done skiing, he never charged us a dime for all that skiing. Great guy with a ton of great stories.
  18. I used a large magnet to find a chain that went down to our anchor whenever a buoy popped off. I think it was a 250lbs pulling magnet, fairly large. Rust on a galvanized chain quickly stopped that idea from working. After about a year the magnet would hardly hold on to anything. Passing waves would separate it. I now just have a piece of SS cable running to every anchor. I catch that with a grapple hook and snap on the buoy. Much easier.
  19. I have an issue with the same L3, except instead of a bulging disk my vertebrae is pushing in to my spinal cord and keeps going further, fusion is in the near future. In the meantime like you steroid injections help and the baxmaxx back brace linked above really has made me feel good while skiing. I am a double booter and being able to really tighted up a back brace way beyond and brace I have had before has helped immensely. I think I spent $60 with the BOS coupon code. Worth every penny. Even if it doesn't work for you its just $60. Most of us would pay any amount of money to make out backs feel good again.
  20. I was Jodi posted up some pictures with the gate guide system before. It is colored buoys in the water that look to be in line with 1 ball but on the other side of the course. The color corresponds to your rope length. It tells you how wide your pull out should be for each line length. The longer the rope the wider you should be.
  21. I have the Radar Vapor handle and it holds up fairly well. I made the mistake of buying a Masterline Team handle last time which only lasted my 2 months before it wore the rubber out. The Radar lasts at least a year. Two ski partners have a radar carbon bar lock. Where the rope attaches to the bar lock seems to wear out super fast. Within two weeks twice for one of the guys. To their credit Radar has warranties it. my big issue with the bar lock is that those ends are hard and heavy. Every time it hits the boat when someone is pulling it in or moving it you are afraid they are going to scratch the boat.
  22. I started the year off strong and slowly regressed as well. It got so bad I started missing my opening pass. I too was tail standing and showing lots of bad habits. I decided to switch my ski from my Connelly GTR back to my old 15 year old D3 Custom X. On the first pass I picked up 12 buoys. I skied the D3 one more set and went back to the Connelly. I picked up another 6 buoys and am back to 35 off. Sometimes we just need a different feeling ski to force our bodies to get out of the muscle memory we have developed. If you don't have a different ski try moving your binding back a hole for a few sets.
  23. I was hurt in a tournament. The insurance was secondary to mine, but when it was all said and done the USA waterski insurance picked up about $5000 that my insurance did not cover. I did not have to pay for a dime in copays etc. It worked well for me and was easy to file. Just make sure you local safety director fills out the paperwork that day and gives it to you. You can also buy a separate liability policy for things like a slalom course on public water. Our club took out this additional coverage as it protects us if some yahoo runs through the course when we are not out there, hurts themselves and decides to sue us.
  24. I was changing the oil in the boat. After I took off the filter I did not check to verify that the old O ring came off with it as well. Put the new filter on, filled it up with oil and started to run the boat. Oil pressure came up and everything looked good. I opened the engine cover about 30 second later to find oil being shot all over the bilge. It took about 6 hours to get everything cleaned up properly and I still get an oil slick anytime I get some water in the bilge. Two O ring gaskets do not seal better than 1.
