  1. position is everything if your position on the ski is correct all will go well.
  2. First year on my new HO Carbon Omni ski and Connelly Sync right front boot love both. Ski is super and the boot is easy on and releases with very little evert which greatly reduces chance of injury.
  3. 72+ free skied from 1967 to 1992 stopped skiing until 2015 Had to learn all over again. Now I make the course at 15 off and 28MPH when I have a really good day.
  4. First ski of Mar. 25, 2021 Okanagan BC Canada. Water temperature 2c air 9 c slight rain. First time up on new ski and bindings it was great but cold. Sons Centurion Falcon second run of year had done a lot of work on it and it was running well. Hope to get out again soon.
  5. Purchased a Omni carbon 67 put connelly sync boot on front and rtp on rear now weather is against me to try it. So early in spring for water test. Thanks to all those who provided advice on this and other ski's as it really helped to narrow down the purchase. This is site is a great help to course beginners.
  6. Great write up Frank_MA This will help a lot of people select the right ski for them.
  7. thanks jepski Never seen a ski do this and have many old ski's
  8. First follow up with (savaiusini) if you get no where try direct to HO ski they should do something. If you do not get any help from them then try this. This looks like a big delamination at the edge. If it was my ski I would grid it out with a small drimmall to get the extent of damage then back fill with JB weld or epoxy several coats shape and paint. I am going to buy a HO Omni Carbon this winter and would like to know how this turns out
  9. Hi am Vic 73 this year have open lake skied on and off most of my adult life. After 25 years off I started skiing with my sons in 2015 having had both knees replaced in 2014. I started on a 2000 connelly hook had a lot of trouble getting up. Both sons recommended newer wider ski. Got a 69 Connelly Outlaw with Nova Front boot. Managed some Full Passes 2019 and 2020 at 15 off and 26MPH Now on a 2003 Connelly F1X and relearning everything. Looking to upgrade ski to 2020 model. but having trouble picking one out. Love skiing and get out three or four times a week behind a 1998 Ski Centurion Falcon I bought last year. In the Winter I go south and have been skiing with Erick Lee for the last 2 years. Great fun that, Love it. Skiing has helped me stay active and healthy and probably saved my Life because it keeps me going. In 2017 got leukemia which was treated with Chemo. Still going strong now. Happy skiing everyone.
  10. The HO SL tx turns out is to large it was a great deal as it came with Vector Boot and Artp and had never seen the water. So am looking at a HO carbon Omni from the local dealer blank cost is 500 canadian. Now to tell the Karen I NEED this ski.
  11. thanks Rednucleus I am able to get a new 2017 CX superlite blank from a dealer here and maybe go with that. What binding did you get? Does the CX edge hunt or is it stable when going straight.
  12. thinking of upgrading to a HO TX 69 inch superlight Ski. I am presently skiing on a 69 Connelly Outlaw and have made several full course passes at 15 of and 26 mph. Have also been looking at the Radar Senate alloy but it will be at list double the price I am about 190# and 5-11'. Anybody got some experience with the TX.
  13. I have O'Neil Slasher and so does my son. Vests fit will and have never let go in a fall. They are light. do not hold a lot of water and dry well. After 4 years the material is separating from filler and the stitching is coming undone from one of the vests. We have been very happy with these vests and will probably buy new ones. At this point do to Covide selection is limited in Canada.
  14. My concern with buying new vests the manufacturer does not provide any proof of any level of protection or buoyancy. How many LBs of buoyancy? and level of protection and what is the protected area. is this stuff too hard to test for. Tie weights to your vest until it sinks. put 1sg inch block on vest and see how much weight it takes before going flat. Anybody else got ideas on how to set some standards.
  15. May 23th Scaha lake BC Canada temperature 50.7 F 4/3 wetsuit Barely good enough. Skied on Osyoos lake May 24 temp. 55 F, me 4/3 wetsuit, My son heater top.
  16. I went to shell site and appears they are coming out with new synthetic oil so now they rate their oil as 5w30 for both gas and diesel 5w40 now rated for diesel (I do not think they changed formula) 5w20 for hD truck gas use for newer engines some of this oil also come with 0w++ rating Result is get the correct weight oil for your engine and brand does not matter as much. I think that the new synthetic oils are far better then older oils as ever few years the rating goes up. Manufactures of most engines now say they can use synthetic oil and the many engines comes that way from factory.
  17. please note there may be a different requirement in oil type if you have an enclosed cooling system running antifreeze as they run at a higher temperature then boats cooled by raw water. Raw water usually 160F or less.
  18. I believe that Pennzoil makes shell Rotella not positive.
  19. I use 10w40 Rotella T6 oil in my 1998 Merc 350 powered Boat, my 2001 cummins diesel motorhome, My 1989 xjs V12 Jaguar and 1972 lawn tractor. no issues with the oil and never had a break down after switching engine over to it.
  20. Selecting an upgrade to your present ski is a big problem in this sport as riding style, body weight and height, speed and skill level are all variables for each person. Without trying the ski yourself you have only a guess at wither it is going to be a good ski for you. So try every ski that you get the opportunity to ride. You need to be your own judge as manufactures can only provide very broad recommendations. Other people can tell you which they prefer but then you need to know what their Variables are to apply that recommendation to you.
  21. Here is something of note all ski's this day are made by mixing a resine and a harder which set. The Reaction does not stop simply slows down a lot after material sets up. So the material properties continue to change and therefore the ski behave differently overtime (very very slightly) put someone skiing to the edge of its design will notice the difference should they compare it to a fresh ski. So a dumb ass slow skier like me would not notice this. Put some one skiing at a 34-36 and 34 off would feel it immediately. So unless someone can change the properties of the material ski's are made of they do change or wear out over time.
  22. No big projects but got Perfect Pass installed in me Ski Centurion, Yesterday finish cleaning, fixing and reinforcing the swim platform. Rebuilt vent fan tubing and moved fan to better location. Test run boat and reset timing. I also waxed the outside. Still Have to clean interior no that work on boat is done. Still working on barrel manifold, carburetor and o2 sensor waiting on flame arrestor and recurve kit for distributor.
  23. the O2 sensor on the carb is the easiest way to tune boat and get correct fuel/air ratio without guessing at it.
  24. I can not ski yet so I work on boat hope to get 2 bbl carb replaced with 4 bbl, install O2 sensor in exhaust with gauge, and install Perfect Pass bought but not received yet. when I can get out will buy some new teck and fix up swim platform.
