  1. It more of a schedule issue. I could set it up real quick and drive back and get everyone or they could meet me at the ski course. I figured if I left it would be no longer then a 1/2 hr. That is some interesting information it would probably be feasible on my lake. The issue is the individual who has the permit is a jerk.
  2. Hi all, I'm on a public lake that the entry gates, exit gates and the six buoys your ski around are take out after every use. I would like to know if it's legal to set the buoys leave them and come back in a half hour or so?
  3. There is definitely a market for older used ski boats I'm starting to see them all the time on the lake. It's mostly people who think you need to stand up and drive or have one as a status symbol.
  4. I finally had time to work on the boat and get it in the water this year. It really had me scratching my head on this issue. As I said I put the new carb on at the end of the season last year and I only had time to try it once. It has been driving me nuts all winter!! I end up taking the jets and power value out of the old carb and now it's fixed.
  5. @Wayne I think my carb is a Holley part number 0-80319-1 from my reach it said that was the right one. Am I wrong? I used a inline spark tester. I'm planning on working on the boat this week when I get it in the water. I did do a fuel pressure test and I only have 4 psi at idle. I was thinking I should have mor around 6-8psi?
  6. The boat is still buried in the barn so when I get to I'll post what the problem was. As soon as I saw someone say check the float level it dawned on me that I never check that. I did a tune up on it and changered the filberts and plugs last year because I was just stupped. The boat starts right up and runs great other then when I'm trying to go skiing. With me just in the boat on my lake test I couldn't re-create the issue. The carb is set up just like the old one. The old card was a car carb the problem with it was it was running rich. Instead of messing with it I went out and bought a boat carb for it the 600cfm holly. My plan is to check the float level and the accelerator pump like suggested above. I asked about it on another page and they suggested that I replace a bunch of random parts such as the alternator, starter, distributor, and basically every part you can takeoff with a wrench. I guess I should have asked here first. Thanks a lot.
  7. Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me out on here. I installed a new carb last season and have been having issues with it. Long story short the boat had a car carb on it so I put a brand new boat carb on. The issues only happens when I'm about to go skiing. The driver hits the gas and the boat stalls and won't re-start right away. We put the boat back on the lift and let it sit for a day. I get the boat out and do a lake test I try all kinds of things it runs great. I lake test is a few more times then try skiing again then it acts up again. I repeated this process multiple times and try different things. It has spark after it acts up so I'm thinking it's fuel related. The boat runs good at all RPMs it doesn't seem to be running ritch or lean. I take off hard out of the hole and drive the crap out of it. I can drive around for hours at idle no issues. I'm stumped on this issue. The boat is a 1981 Mastercraft with a 351w in it.
  8. Thanks for the replies. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I'll have to check out that podcast so like a good place to start. Next time I have the opportunity I'll try to get a video. I haven't videoed my skiing in a year or so.
  9. I mainly free ski and I feel that I'm at a point where progressing is getting difficult. I find the harder I try to ski on open water that it leads to me pulling past the second wake then the rope goes slack. I think I'm putting my extra effort in at the wrong time. I'm thinking about trying to ski harder/ faster in my cut vs trying to get to the other side of the wake faster. Where should I be putting in my extra effort? I have to feel like I'm working for something leisurely going out and skiing doesn't work for me. lol
  10. My ski is a 67. I'm running out of skiing wether this year so I don't have time to play with it. I will email radar and see what they say.
  11. I have been skiing on my union for 1 or 2 months now. The bindings I have on it are connelly talon on the front and a HO RTP. I couldn't find any information on there we'd site so I put them in the middle holes. It's about 17 inches to the RTP and 32.5 on the front one. They feel ok, but sometimes I feel like they are to far forward.
  12. Thanks guys I just feel like I need another ski and I really don't. I think I'm set on skis right now and I have room to improve on the ones I have. I'm only able to get on the course once or twice a year and I would like to change that next year. The more I think about it I have never tried the Carbon V on a ski course.
  13. In all honesty I think the Union is going to work out great for what I want to do. I want to slow down to around 28mph and really work on my skiing on the course and get better. I just wanted to try a high end ski even if it was a few years old.
  14. Hi all, I just purchased a Radar Union. I like the ski, but now I want to get another one. I really like the Radar I think it going to work out great for what I want to use it for. I want to get into course skiing and I keep get stuck skiing in rough water conditions. I already I have 2 other skis a CX and Carbon V. I found a seller on eBay selling a A3 for cheep and now I think I need it. Its all because I got the Union now I want to try a High end ski. I'm like I have a lower end ski, a middle end ski, a little higher middle end ski and now I need a high end ski.
  15. I'm not super happy with then. I ordered a ski and they didn't tell me it was on back order. I found out when I emailed them 2 weeks later to find out what was going on. With no end in site I canceled my order after 4 weeks.
  16. Hmm. I guess I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I love the HO CX its ok in the choppy water. The only issues with that is I let my dad ski on it and he kind of took it over. Its kind of a pain when you only have one ski in the boat. I like the Carbon V, but in choppy water it doesn't work for me. Maybe trying something different would be the way to go.
  17. Hi all, I'm looking for a ski for ruff water and to learn the course. I mainly free ski at 15off at 32mph. I have a HO CX, Connelly Carbon V, and I'm looking for something different. I was looking at a free ride, but the deal didn't work out. I was thinking of buying a Radar Union. I like that the Radar is a 24-32mph ski.
  18. I think the best way to improve is to video tape. My bad habit of pulling after the second wake that I learned from asking on here. I thought getting on the course would have help me fix that. I was wrong it just made it harder to ski on the course. If I wouldn't have asked I would be very frustrated and not wanting to get back out there and keep trying.
  19. One bad thing about buying an older boat is that some places won't work on them. We won't work on anything 1998 and older. Then agin its most ski boats have a 350 chevy so the might not turn you down. I skied behind a Mastercraft NXT when I lived in FL and it was not a wake I would want to ski behind agin. If I was looking for a good ski boat it would have to be a direct drive with no wood. I see a lot of 90s Mastercrafts for cheep on Facebook. A new boat the best part is you can tell people you have a new boat.
  20. I finally got back out skiing today. I wanted to thank you guys for the info. It made a big difference with my skiing today by not pulling past the second wake. I wasn't trying to pull the rope in and keep the rope tight and my arms straight. I feel like I'm back to my old self skiing behind the boat.
  21. I think Action Water Sports has a ski cub in the GR area.
  22. @BraceMaker Thanks, I was trying to find out how it was set up, but I could find any info.
  23. I feel like I'm skiing super sloppy and like I have way to much slack on the rope. I don't know what other why to describe it. I mostly free ski at 32mph at 15off and I ski on a 2017 Connely Carbon V. This is the only video I have. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gNACkyxWH89_RlhHltXCfyfsvscH2Vzx/view?usp=sharing
