  1. @RT1 correct I had a different brand but it was essentially identical. I think mine was the EVS brand. This looks familiar. https://www.amazon.com/EVS-Sports-Shoulder-Brace-X-Large/dp/B005C4MHZK/ref=asc_df_B005C4MHZK/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241947247648&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9969948394074278942&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032424&hvtargid=pla-434412511333&psc=1
  2. @RT1I used a different brand and got rid of it a few years ago but i only used it for waterskiing with the goal of adding some additional support. I never noticed it skiing and it held up fine for the 2 or 3 seasons I was actively using it.
  3. I have dislocated my left shoulder about a 10 times in the last 15 years. Still haven't had surgery and don't plan to. After a period of doing a few times in a short period I started using one of these shoulder wraps when skiing. That seemed to help. My dislocations were always sliding out on my side. Think blowing the tail at 1/3/5 and sliding on the left side of the body with the arm fully extended. If I crash, my natural tendency now is to grab it with my other hand and pull it into my body. In addition to dislocating it snow skiing, waterskiing, dirt biking. I also did it changing the bow light bulb and putting a new steering cable in my 196... https://www.amazon.com/Shock-Doctor-Shoulder-Prevents-Separations/dp/B0059MN7PY/ref=asc_df_B0059MN7PY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309748512671&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8025234710581445031&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032424&hvtargid=pla-434170736551&psc=1
  4. Thats where I learned how to ski the course in the mid 90s. stopped skiing there around 2000. Last set I remember was running 36/-15 back to back to back in B3. Milk jugs for boat guides, jet skiers and wakeboarders coming down the course while your coming in from the other end. Classic public lake skiing.
  5. Always learned one hand on the throttle strictly for safety. If the skier gets rapped up in a rope or handle and the split second for the driver to move the right hand to the throttle to return back to neutral or reverse could make a difference. Also as a driver, I had the rope come around my neck once (no shock tube) when a skier popped the handle on the 2/4/6 side. Being able to already start slowing the boat down made the rope burn less intense than I think it could have been.
  6. That was quick. Sold to the highest bidder, a good baller from an old club. 🙂 Feel free to delete.
  7. I have a 50# ballast bag from Lead Wake that I used to balance out my 196. Boat is gone now. I am located in Sacramento, CA. Free to whoever wants to pick it up. https://www.leadwake.com/collections/frontpage/products/the-original-50lb-lead-wake-ballast-bag?variant=35497534480
  8. It was really hard to find a used system a few years ago. Unless you find someone who is re powering. Another option is to scan for used boats for sale and see if you can buy their system. Especially if you have a classic PP, it can be as simple as disconnecting modules and swapping.
  9. I always added fuel stabilizer and just left it with whatever fuel I had in the tank at the end of the season. our temperatures in CA were pretty consistent over the winter and the boat was stored in the garage so I didn't think there was big fluctuation.

  11. Just sold my 02 196 with the 5.0 two months ago. How big are you and how big of skiers do you pull?
  12. great looking 196. just sold my 02 in the same color scheme about 2 months ago. I had the baby 5.0 which was 275 hp. the 5.8/GT40 and 5.7 Excalibur had 310 and 330 hp respectfully.
  13. @tjs1295 I guess you could use an escrow company.
  14. I sold my 20 year old 196 about a month ago. I had a few people call from a state or two away but in the end they didn't put a deposit down so it ended up going to a local couple which made everything WAY easier for both of us. One guy from UT or ID had a friend swing by to take a look and just make sure it was as-described and I really thought he would have bought it but in the end he sorta ghosted me. As a seller, I did a video on the exterior walk around, interior walk around and some quick video of it running in the driveway. If I would have thought about it the last time I used it, I would have gotten some driving the boat at speed so you could see the steering had no vibrations as an example. I was also very upfront about my boat and its short comings (5.0) and even told a guy at his size, it wasn't a good fit for him and would struggle at his elevation even with a different prop in my opinion. My big thing as a seller, was I wanted to be transparent as possible and especially for someone who was from out of the area because I didn't want to waste either of our time. In the end, your in FL, which seems to be a popular place for boats unless your VERY specific about a certain make model and year. I would watch FB Marketplace, Craigslist, and SIA religiously. I bookmarked searches for all three and would check each at least 1x daily if not multiple times. Also as a buyer, be educated, know what to look for and what issues will cost to correct or bring up to your expectation. It gives you negotiating power where you can talk price down without coming off as rude but more factual. Especially as some people have prices that are sky high (still).
