Would like to hear some stories from skiers of when you have experienced that “ah ha” moment to maybe unlock that next pass or a big step in the right direction. For me there would be 2. For the first couple of years I skied over over with my hand grip. I got a chance to ski with @The_MS and he “ very nicely” said I better change that. A couple sets later and it had felt like I obviously should have done that a lot sooner. Center of gravity goes down 3” or so by just doing that. The other one would be just not pushing your hips forward enough or not bending at the waist. That one was a game changer. Throw a pic of yourself up that you like please.

Maybe this has been discussed before but anyone know what and when this happened?

Possibly change the set screw to a different style? If it has a pointy end get a blunt end one or file it down. Or if it is a blunt one get a pointed set screw.

I have thought about this same topic before, usually when you can’t find a driver! I don’t think it’s a matter of “if” but when. The building aspect is the easy part. A rail system under water and the cable pulls the trolley straight down the center line without deviation. Someone that loves slalom skiing and has enough money to try it just has to build it.

I had a similar problem once. The splined collar on the dampener plate broke. If you separate the engine from the transmission it is right there and easy to replace.

Make sure the MaliView speed control is off and then use the select button on the zero off to highlight in black what you want. Then use the arrows up and down to select speed, settings, or mode. The zero off should say “off” if it is not in the on mode.

@oldjeep I also have a 2012 Malibu. So your saying it will be able to tell you a code on the small screen between the tach and speedometer?

@Mastercrafter do you have a link for a cheap code reader that would work for this exact thing? Or will any automotive reader work?

Any of you have a picture of these over sized wings?

+1 for using a liner but I use the cut resistant kind. Hands don’t get tore up or hurt, I won’t ski without them.

You said you were free skiing at 39 off earlier? I have never had luck free skiing at anything shorter than 32 off and getting into a nice rhythm. It just doesn’t feel right and tons of slack after the apex for me. But that 32 off just feels like the sweet spot. You will have to find a happy medium with the wake at 34mph.

It’s all fun and games @Horton. I am lucky enough to have an older wakeboat because I took a 10 year break from waterskiing and never sold my VLX. It is just to good of a family boat. There is nothing better than getting out on the lake and just enjoying. I too caved after a few years and got the kids a tube and the first couple years it seemed all we did was tube but now we only use it a couple times a year.
