  1. @jhkiefer impact vests are awesome for skiing! freedom, comfort, and range of motion is unbeatable. That being stated, none of them are going to protect you fully from a full knockout like a CGA can, I do not know of any current impact vests that will pass the final test in the CGA approval of floating you "face up." Also, there is always the risk of blowing out the entire zipper and coming completely out of the vest as there is only one point of attachment (the zipper). Lots to say nothing is PERFECT (there is always risk) but I think you will enjoy your slasher! I have three in the boathouse myself ?
  2. I don't know of a Ski school in Chicago but the liquid edge in farmer city is always a great stop. Doug always has a top of the line MC in the water and a fully stocked pro-shop as well. There are many lakes in the greater Chicago area however, with a bit of patience and persistence and I am sure you will find yourself a couple of places to ski!
  3. Awesome!! Thank you Manon for speaking out and sharing part of your journey and what you have gone through. I look forward to seeing how this conversation continues to grow and hearing from others about past experiences in our sport and around the world. I have a feeling this is simply the first (and most difficult step) in a long road we as a sport and organization are about to embark upon. Many thanks to your strength and courageousness to speak about an issue such as this Manon, you are an incredible athlete and person to take on a matter as personal as this. I look forward to working with you towards positive changes in our sport and other young athletes futures.
  4. I LOVE this!!! I also started laughing ridiculously hard this morning when I first saw this! I see in this a near perfect representation of why top short-line skiers run exponentially more buoys than the masses. Makes me smile hearing Terry say "if you don't feel like you're going to eat s@$% at any time you're probably not doing it right" Following just the 3D figure, his mass dang near throws him out the front after loading through the gates. Yet in the video, Still, Tall and early into the buoy-line.... Perfection :)
  5. Eddie Roberts has to be in there as well
  6. @horton The support of Oneill for even Terry I think is quite debatable. I believe that he is only "half sponsored" through a friend and dealer of Oneill. I don't think it is a true sponsorship or support of even one athlete any longer
  7. @TomH I’d be happy to travel your way from MI or your group is always welcome here in GR or my other home site in Idaho
  8. Don and Sareeya Parsons live and ski over there in the winter. I am not sure of the exact location but will definitely check into it
  9. I personally am a lefty but try to get into the course about once per week RFF. It is ind of scary at the beginning but you get the hang of it in a week or two (with slow boat speeds) and probably start to find it more fun as you "re-teach" yourself the mechanics over the ski. I think it could be really beneficial to you, especially if it is the only way for you to get out and enjoy the sensation of gliding on top of the water again pain-free.
  10. Awesome place with some great people! As @6balls said previously, four lakes side by side and a great six round weekend in the fall! The water skis very well and is capable of big scores on any of the four lakes.
  11. @jetpilotg4 I would say the average week is anywhere from 6-10 guests (big weeks can be 15-18 including 2-3 coaches)
  12. Yeah Jay! Looking forward too having you back with us for another week this season! This was definitely one of the weeks where I learned the most personally in the past couple years and am looking forward to playing with a new stack of skis with you! For everyone else, YES it is that worth it! No matter the skill level, everyone can benefit from the information Jay possesses.
  13. @Nautibynature that happened to him much too early in the day to blame it on Coni and the Mescal, that would have to be due to too much SKIING!!! Thanks for being a good sport @Commuterfisher! can't wait to see and ski with both of you guys again this winter
  14. @Nautibynature uhoh... tennis week with Chris and I is going to be a great time!!! (i think that week is almost full) we need to be sure to get our tickets for the open now since it gets kind of difficult once the tournament rolls around.
  15. I am not involved in the booking so cannot be 100% sure on this but i believe that the non skiers are around $500 less than the skiing guests. We generally ski from 8 or 9 in the morning until around two or three (depending on which car you ride out to the lake in) then we can split again and head out for the many other activities in the area. We surf one to two times per week generally and as @jimbrake said above golf, dive, snorkel, shop or just about anything else we can find. The Acapulco cliff divers are a weekly excursion for those whom have never seen them (30 meter dive into 3 meter water) and lots of hanging out poolside with your favorite top skiers. Gordon just made a couple more acquisitions for the coming season in the form of another new suburban and the Bush's last Prostar, so now we will have a new Mastercraft to go along with the 200 currently on-site. It is shaping up to be a great season in Mexico this winter so make sure to come down and catch up with the latest gear and theory in slalom.
  16. I can't watch it in Paris!!! What is happening?!?!?!?
  17. oops typo into 5 I tend to ride that thing LFF
  18. thats an entirely different can of worms @Bookm_dano.... but to answer your question, 4@22MPH Without boots the toeside edge into four grabs the front tip EVERYtime at that speed.... 18 on the other hand is like riding my flex tail through the course, loads of time and balance.
  19. Lance Murdock didn't jump springfield gorge did he? @Horton wasn't he the inspiration for Barts danger daredevil work, making Bart want to jump the Gorge? and to answer the question Bart and homer made it on Homers second attempt.....
  20. @Texas6 After watching your video I have to agree with @jimbrake and @MattP on a couple of things to work on now, however I am very interested to what sensations you feel as you begin to create your energy on the gate pullout. In other words what are your thoughts and what key muscle groups do you feel as you begin this motion? As I watch the video (primarily the 35 as this is where you asked) I personally feel that you are moving too strongly from the left shoulder down towards the water, thus moving your hips back and you onto the back foot by the time your ski matches and surpasses the boats speed. when you begin to stand up, the ski is no longer on its sweet spot and you are left "searching" for speed, line tension and then angle. Can you feel your connection to the ski as you make the move out wide? i.e. your feet? Without being aware of your connection point to the ski, it is nearly impossible to get your core (hips) to move in the direction of travel you wish with the most possible efficiency. I really think that you can utilize the boat much more to "generate" your initial width and angle to put you in a much better position over the ski as well as in more consistent swing and rhythm with the boat through the course. @Luzz is on point with trying to slow down and smooth out the process... keep up the hard work and lets see the video when you run this thing
  21. super bummed to find out that Fred is the only one "invited" to play.... It is a super opportunity for the sport and I can't wait to see us get back to the "primetime" live TV spots the sport should be in.... I mean Chess on ESPN... come on!!! It is just a little deflating to only see one guy, get one shot over the ramp. too many things can happen before the ramp, putting a TON of pressure on Freddy to hit big red on THAT cut in order to spotlight his talents correctly....
  22. September 23rd 2015!!!!! and Pizza will rain from the heavens haha @Horton
