    Engine issue

As for the lack of hole shot, could also be carb related if the accelerator pump in the carb is bad. In neutral, engine should react quickly and rev with throttle, not be sluggish to increase rpms. When the engine was replaced, was the carb replaced?

    Engine issue

Agree with @bracemaker on potential causes, I would start with the carb, specifically looking at the secondary barrel and jets. May want to try and verify the secondary choke plate and linkage are not binding up and free to move with the engine off and the throttle wide open.
  3. I had an 88 Brendella years ago, the fuel tank vent was low on the hull, and very prone to taking in water. It would bog, not misfire, similar to what you are experiencing. May want to consider dumping out the carb as water can get trapped in the primary bowl, and then causes issues when the accelerator pump pushes fuel to the barrels under acceleration. As the boat aged and water seeped through the deck into the flotation foam, the boat sat lower and lower in the water, and the problem just got worse. Water tended to get stuck on either side of the fuel tank, with nowhere to drain.
  4. Well done! Would love to do that to my '10 LXi. Will need to think hard about where that seat is stashed though. Please let me know if you have come up with an innovative fix for that stereo remote. I swear that if you come within an inch of that thing it turns the stereo on or off.
  5. 2010 Malibu Reaponse LXi and 2016 MC 197 with big block, about 50/50 split
  6. Here is a pic, sorry, only one I had is wallpaper on cell, doesn't impede vision or walk through. Can add another pic tomorrow.
  7. I have had the Monster mirror bracket on my 2010 LXI for the past 6 or 7 years, and have not had any issues with it. Bought a promo boat that had the tower, really like how the bimini attaches to the tower, no straps.
  8. @lkb, definitely helps! Didn't see that in the manual on ZO website. Will give it a try this week. Thanks!
  9. After dropping some test buoys this weekend to mimic an 8-ball course, we have decided to convert our existing course to get the extra set up time. Does anybody know how Zero Off course mapping works with an 8-ball course? Thanks, Eric
  10. There is a great site just outside of Fort Payne, going on our third year of skiing there. Set ups are a little tight, we are considering changing to an 8-ball course. Heard through the grapevine you will be working at my OpCo. When do you expect to get to FP?
  11. A few years ago when first getting started in course skiing,I popped the handle and the rope lassoed my buddies A1 out of the boat. I only saw the ski fly up in the air and had no idea what had happened. My son was in the boat, about six at the time and scared the hell out of us. We were using a tube, but now always put the skis in the rear ski locker, pure habit now. Unfortunately cracked the ski and slightly dinged the boat. A bit off topic but related, a work buddy who just got a deck boat this summer showed me a video of him and friends this past weekend on the lake. They were videoing somebody starting out on a tube (why??) behind the boat. As they get up on plane, a girl in the boat screams "what was that?" Slow motion on the video shows as they were pulling the tuber up to speed, they were also getting their anchor up on plane, which then caught a toe and launched into the boat. Video caught the anchor in mid air heading right toward the boat, couldn't even see it at regular playback speed. Luckily no one got hit, and incredibly didn't do any damage. Seen this happen a few years ago to also to a guy in a MC after we pulled out a portable course, and the anchor landed through the lid of their cooler. Again, very lucky.
  12. Thanks everybody for weighing in on this. We have quite a few options to consider. We are both 34 mph skiers with a 2010 Response LXi and a 2012 pro star WTT, so the shorter setups should be ok. I have skied quite a few times on a lake that measures about 1850, with one really narrow end, and it does take quite a few times to get comfortable. When you get out of the water, there is no adjusting shorts or wiping water off of your face - get up and get out. Very workable, but not ideal. We have discussed the 8 buoy course for another site we were both considering buying, as it was about 1800' with limited land to add lengh. I know my buddy has skied on a lake in Mississippi, I think, where they had the extra buoys rigged to a garage door opener to pull them down, which I think is awesome. Without that, I have read on other threads, and seen the layout, that the five ball from the opposite direction is right near your gate turn in - which could either hurt or help. Regarding other layout otions, the property is faily narrow, 300', with the dog leg, so this limits options on how the lake is oriented. We have debated islands, and my buddy has spoken to quite a few other skiers about pros and cons, and the debate rages on....obviously from this thread!! I think there are two primary options - blast away to build the ideal set up, or walk away and find another piece of property. I think if he is going to spend the money to build the lake, he won't want to settle for less. Thanks for the offers of assistance, and we will probably be reaching out to you individually.
  13. Looking for some advice on a ski lake design - basically my ski buddy started off looking at a piece of property that allowed for plenty of length for a 2000'+ lake, but after a few test digs, found a significant amount of rock that would have to be blasted, which doesn't really seem to be an option. Staying away from the rock, there is still room to put about an 1800' lake with a turn out on one end. The photo shows what he is considering and we are looking to see what everybody thinks about this layout. Concerns are, but not limited to bounce back off the turn causing it to run down the course, and the turn being opposite of what you want for skier position coming into the course. He had been looking at the property on a contingency basis for permitting, etc, which has all been cleared, now the rock. Basically need to either proceed with this or similar layout, or start from scratch looking for another piece of property. Any advice and feedback is much appreciated.
  14. Looking at the phone # in the ad, it is the same as Marine Outfitters, the Malibu dealer north of Chattanooga. These guys did some work on my LXI a couple of years ago, I think the guy goes by TI (?). Did a good job on my boat, and invited me to ski anytime, FWW. Would be happy to go look for you, but won't be back in town until second week of June, they are only about 20 mins from my office.
