  1. @Wayne Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll see you out there this summer.
  2. @Wayne Thanks for the info. Is there a course on Portage lake/is is public? I am in Marion township so not too far from there either. I have also heard there is a course on Halfmoon lake which is just down the road from you, have you checked that one out? Regarding the Whitmore lake course, do you know anyone there I could get in touch with to ask permission?
  3. Does anyone know if Whitmore lake still has a course? I am in the Howell area looking for a slalom course to tow my boat to a few times a week. I am more than happy to pay any dues, just looking to get some skiing in! Thanks.
  4. My parents just moved into Tellico Village and this is what they have to work with for their 2014 Prostar. Has anyone made alterations to a larger boat lift to accommodate a ski boat? Looking for ideas for bunks and getting in and out of the boat without having to go for a swim. Also, are there any Prostar owners that have played with position of bunks? In the past we have set up wide at the stern and narrow at the bow, but don't love the idea of having the bunks overlap any of the chines. Please post your ideas and pictures! Thanks!
  5. I have heard rumors at boat shows implying an update for 2021. Biggest change will be the trick wake from what I was told.
  6. I just moved to Slidell for work and am looking to get back on the water. Does anyone have a contact for this site? Thank you!
  7. @JeffSurdej Skiers with their AWSA debut at Spartan Buoy Bash (a few of these skiers became USAWS members specifically for this tournament): Kurtz, Evan Simonelli, Dean Lynch, Tim Gaylord, Grant Krauter, Alex Walejewski, Michael Carlone, Kaleigh Clink, Kellyn Height, Landon Machnacki, Andrew Carlone, Andrew Macarther, Brenna Meinhardt, William Mcginnis, Christopher Patnode, Kayla White, Brendan My mistake... I was inaccurate in the article. There were actually 16 debuting AWSA skiers. NOT 12. A happy mistake :) Let me know if you have any questions! Alex Clark clarka42@msu.edu
  8. +1 on these tournaments being a whole lot of fun. As a collegiate skier, I agree that the biggest draw to a tournament is multi round, multi event, as it's the biggest bang for your buck. We are dirt poor after all! See link below for the Q&A article on Spartan Buoy Bash. Thank you to all the veterans who are helping us develop as skiers, officials, and tournament directors! 9. Second that. He also doesn't need a special hook or anything to take down a shot ski if any of you were wondering. :)
  10. I competed at NCWSA Nationals this year along side @FWinter and many of the other pros from the dirty south. The entire weekend I stood along side some of our new members and watched their faces in awe as skiers took down 39.5off and soared jumps over 170feet. This was their first experience ever seeing skiers of that level and they were in awe. In what other sport can you compete along side athletes of this level and have the announcer yell and get excited whether you're plopping or double cutting off the ramp? Not allowing pros to ski would be a tragedy to the motivation for the growth of our sport. All of us collegiate skiers are competing for the same reason and it sure as hell is not to make money. We love skiing. If you love skiing you should be allowed to ski. Period.
  11. Jodi Fisher and Spray it Forwards are awesome! Our team was in desperate need of new jump bindings and Jodi got a brand new pair for us in 3 days so that we could mount them up in time for nationals. The NCWSA has grown 14% in the last year and Spray it Forwards is definitely helping to keep this upward trend! I would not have entered this sport without my collegiate team and now I'm addicted. I'd love to see Spray it Forwards continue to grow!
  12. I joined my collegiate waterski team one year ago with minimal knowledge of tournament skiing. I grew up on a public lake and skied all my life, but had never seen a course. Started learning the course at 28mph -15. I started to get the hang of it, and by the collegiate nationals I was inconsistently running 34mph -15 in practice. After the season I bought my own ski so I wouldn't have to bum off my teammates. I spent the winter reading all the ballers posts about proper slalom technique and watched plenty of video of pro skiers. When I got back on the water the passes just dropped. Took out 36mph -15 and then took down 22off @ 36mph right after that. A couple weeks ago I ran my first ever 28off at 36mph. Over the next year I'm hoping to become a more consistent slalom skier and hopefully get better at trick and jump as well. I would not be at the ability level I'm at right now if it was not for ball of spray! So my advice to people just learning the course is to spend the winter reading the ballers posts. That being said the collegiate season just started so there's still work to be done for me!
  13. My family had a 2001 X9 for 15 years before we recently bought a '14 prostar. Great wake for beginner wakeboarders, good for surfing, and average wake for slaloming. The wake at 15off is a little scary but 22off is more than skiable. The wake is not very forgiving, but it worked well for freeskiing. Our family of four used to spend all day on the Illinois river. Overall loved the boat.
  14. Kind of was hoping it was going to be the asymmetrical one... That thing is gnarly looking!
  15. @MattP The skis are Connelly HC 2000s I think. I will be able to get at them this weekend to post pictures. I believe inserts are plenty big enough to fill the hole, but the issue is these skis have been stripped a few times so there are a few holes within close proximity of each other, so there may be an issue with the inserts being too big... I need to look at them another time and post pictures on here before I can make a decision. Bear with me since studying for finals and fixing with skis don't mix. Thanks for the help
  16. Disregard the last comment... missed the part about using a plate
  17. Also I would have to bond it over a hole... would this cause a problem?
  18. How well will these hold for jumpers? These skis will be taking some abuse
  19. @skialex this may be my best option considering the condition of the skis. Thanks for the pics!
  20. Slalom skis are always being tweaked and a new ski 5 years ago skis nothing like a new one today. I'm wondering if this is the case for trick skis. Is a new 2008 D3 going to be monumentally different than the 2015?
  21. I will post pictures of the skis later in the week, but I am concerned with the fact that there are 3 or 4 holes right next to each other so I suspect if I use inserts instead of redrilling the little bit of material that is in between 2 of the holes could break and I would have an even bigger problem. I may have to post pictures if this doesn't make sense.
  22. I'm having extra issues because the skis have been drilled in probably 4 times and poorly plugged or not plugged at all. Thinking about using these skis as a shorter ski for less experienced jumpers to just do ride overs on. @eleeski If you're serious about that offer I might contact you if I can't fix them with this information.
  23. I'm on Michigan State's water ski team and our bindings got ripped out on our jump skis... again. Just wondering if anyone has advice on the best product to plug the holes? Any other repair advice is welcome. thanks
  24. I wish I rode a 67" so I could take this off your hands! Just bought a 66" A3 and love the ski!
  25. This is about as stacked as I get. I always thought I was close but from what you're saying it sounds like I'm taking the wrong approach. Thoughts?
