Thanks @scoke. When we connected the ponds we also excavated both ends giving us 2200'. We normally ski it straight in but some do spin on the far end. For 36 mph skiers we drop pretty close to the weeds. If anyone is interested in checking out the lake, I'm hosting an open house/lake this coming Friday from 8:30 am - 4 pm. No Charge ski sets. You can look it that way. But nonmembers will not have the same access to the lake and boat as members will.

@MitchellM I have thought about a family plan but our membership fee is pretty low so I'm going to keep it individual for now. We have plenty of room to spin on the far end if you want. Shell Rock Ski in SW Florida is opening up to Club Membership starting Feb 1st. Located on 55 acres NE of Fort Myers near Arcadia, Babcock Ranch and Punta Gorda. The club is designed for skiers that spend the winter in Florida or escape winter for a short time and just want to ski. This season the club will be open until about May 15th and start back up next season in late Oct. Hours of operation will be 7:30 am to sunset 7 days a week. The club will utilize a 2022 Mastercraft Prostar on a private ski lake with a record capable course installed by Jon Travers and Will Asher. Shared driving with preapproved drivers will be implemented when I’m not available. Membership rate for this season will be $300 plus $25 per 6 pass set. I will also do pay per pull for nonmembers at rate of $40 per 6 pass set. Signed waivers will be required for all skiers and guests. Please private message me at m_pags for more details. Cheers! I bought the 48" TitainStor through Otevrton's and really like it. It's heavy duty and does not leak in the Florida rains. I even stand on it when I put the canopy bungees on.

@fu_man I removed the arms from the boat guide section, took them apart and push the foam out with a piece of conduit. Not fun but it worked for me.

I leave my EZ Slalom course in all summer and had the same problem. After removing the water logged foam, novice buoys about 13' in from the turn buoy did the trick for me. I tried capped PVC and was never able to find the right balance.

@JL5 Jason Congrats on your boat purchase! So glad it all worked out. @lpskier Yes it is. The Dewey Decimal System guy (Melvil Dewey) was behind the renaming of Lake Stearns, FL to Lake Placid, FL.

Season ended in Minnesota so it's time to get the fall/winter season started at Shell Rock Ski aka BFE in SW Florida.

Back to the original question. We have a 2022 PS 6.0L. The set up on the shorter end of our lake in FL is about 420' from drop zone to the 55's straight in. I pulled a 36 mph skier last week. With a pretty gentle pull up I had to give it everything to get ZO to lock in about 50' before the 55's. At 34mph it locks in much quicker with less throttle. I would definitely not call the boat "sluggish".

I would consider using a 2 command start. 1st - "In gear" this allows a novice driver to get the boat straight and the line tight. Drag until you're comfortable and the boat is straight then say "Go". I use this method when my wife drives for me. I can see her manipulate the wheel until it's straight and I always know the line will be tight.
