  1. I agree with the Carbon Pro having the softest, smallest wakes. I have a 2004 SN 196 and mine are pretty low and soft as well but the CP is the best for wakes.
  2. Will this be the ski that you ride to win the 2024 M9 Nationals?
  3. Moomba Outback in Canada.
  4. You can determine maximum heart rate by subtracting your age from 220. I think Jaime is 23 so that would put her at maximum heart rate at 197 bpm. Hard to believe that in 16 seconds her heart rate would be that high, I could certainly be wrong. I’ve run 2 marathons and hundreds of 10k races. I never got anywhere close to 140 bpm in a long distance race.
  5. Slalom skiing is an anaerobic exercise as you aren’t maintaining an exertion for more than 20-30 seconds at a time. As a runner I developed a resting heart rate of 48 beats per minute. When sprinting at maximum pace my heart rate was 140 bpm. Therefore in my opinion heart rate for slalom water skiing shouldn’t be a concern.
  6. @Dano Absolutely, I’ve used Rotella 15-40 for over 25 years. No problems at all.
  7. @Cnewbert That horrible event is still talked about today. Probably the most tragic accident ever at Keystone. Usually a couple of fatalities every year with people exceeding their ability levels and hitting a tree or tower. Due to the elevation some folks just have altitude sickness and miscalculate their situational awareness.
  8. Yellow Jacket only on Saturday and Sundays, only work 2 days a week. After 4 years it was too much. Learned a lot and skied 100+ days per year.
  9. South Carolina passed a law requiring a 200 foot distance from docks for any power boats. One of my neighbors is the CEO of Friends of Lake Keowee Society, his group plus several local legislators were instrumental in getting this pushed through. Our lake has been swarmed with tubers, wakeboaders, wake surfers in the past 10 years. It was getting dangerous as many of these new residents have 0 boating experience or etiquette. In any case our 18,500 acre lake is now more peaceful. When I built my home here in 2003 you could long line barefoot all day Saturday or Sunday. Now not so much. i believe the 200 foot law will be commonplace as time goes by and people are tired of having their docks and shoreline destroyed. I ski on private lakes exclusively now.
  10. @DW I was on Mountain Safety at Keystone for 4 years. Saw a lot of folks caught off guard by rocks, including an instructor teaching tree skiing. He went right into a tree after hitting a rock, his class concluded at that time. Got a concussion but no permanent damage. Early season I stick to groomers, Keystone has some very challenging and fun terrain. Love Blue Sky Basin at Vail.
  11. @DW If you don’t hit a stump or rock barely under the surface. Otherwise it’s all fun.
  12. @MS Still better than Minnesota, right?
  13. Absolutely Travers is in spec at all times. Note that if Nate had taken a pass at 9.75 on Saturday he would’ve been familiar with this situation.
  14. Harbor Freight works for me. Had it 5 years now.
  15. @Horton Water Ski Results online showed her 2@41 off in first and second round. That’s where I got my info. Check it out yourself.
  16. Allie is the new rising star for women. She’s on fire, ran 2 @41 off twice today.
  17. I think a lot of people get overly concerned with hours. I have a friend with a 1988 Malibu Response , he has over 4,000 trouble free hours on it with only routine oil changes and required preventative maintenance. However you could easily replace the engine with a 6L if you desire.
  18. the Sport Nautique is about 2 feet longer, a bit wider and a couple hundred pounds heavier than a SN 196. The wakes are a bit larger, especially at speeds less than 34 mph. It would be wise to ski it before purchasing. Very well built family inboards but not for serious tournament skiers. Good for wakeboarding, surfing and recreational skiing purposes, especially on larger public lakes. Bear in mind you’ll pay about $4k or more for a trailer.
  19. @Wish They are 7 hours ahead of EDT. Figure 6 minutes per skier and boom you get the appropriate start time.
  20. Because they’re in Europe? No dinero for them.
