  1. @Horton A podcast is just a rss feed that defines the content (show title, episode list, etc) and provides links to the audio files for each episode. Once you publish the rss feed it can be consumed by any podcast application. In addition you will want to add the rss url to iTunes so that it is in the largest directory of podcasts such that the podcast can easily be found. Most other podcasts apps also use the iTunes directory. iTunes however does not actually host the content in the way youtube does. Instead it is just a directory of podcast rss feeds. There are tools and software platforms available for creating the rss feed and hosting the audio files. Please message me if you would like me to help you with getting the show setup as an actual podcast.
  2. Great show. If possible please upload the audio as a podcast so that we can listen using any podcast app. You might consider something like podbean.com for podcast hosting.
  3. @twhisper Your domain is being redirected to a spam page. Here is video of it occurring: https://photos.app.goo.gl/AW7APXnfJHBBicR5A Let me know if you need help with investigating the cause.
  4. Ever since the Hamilton "He hit me, he hit me" radio call a few years ago, I just can't stand Hamilton. He isn't a racer anymore. He may have been as a kid but he is a spoiled brat now and nothing would make me happier that for both red bull and ferarri to show up with better cars than mercedes. I realize that is quite unlikely. Although Bottas beating him would be even better I don't think that is very likely. By the way, I like F1 but Indycar is vastly better racing. It isn't even close. The quality of drivers is just as good and instead of 2 guys having a chance to win on pace, about 10-15 have a chance every week.
  5. I find it really difficult to watch videos taken from the pylon due to the shakiness. Even the relatively good quality videos have significant shakiness issues as discussed in many other threads on here. Thus, has anyone experimented with a 3-axis gimbal for stabilizing the video? There are a ton of handheld gimbals and most quadcopters have some gimbal options. Unfortunately, the only mountable gimbal I have found is this one: 3-Axis Gimbal Has anyone tried anything like this? My biggest concern is that it might lag behind the skier due to pylon movement being detected as too sudden of a change and thus the gimbal correcting against it at first. Also, it is disappointing that it only works with an action camera.
  6. Golf divides things between pros and amateurs as well as age. So for example you have the US Junior Amateur (Under 18), US Amateur (any age), US Mid Amateur (25+) and US Senior Amateur (55+), US Open, US Senior Open (55+) for men. Each are independent tournaments and each results in a national champion. Many elite amateurs will compete in multiple tournaments including the US Open since it is also open to Amateurs. Obviously Pros are not eligible to compete in the Amateur tournaments. Each state normally has Amateur state championships for all three levels as well. Performance in State tournaments have no bearing with regard to qualifying for the national championships. Separate qualifying tournaments in each state are held instead. The USGA sets minimum handicaps for each tournament to be eligible to try to qualify. For example if you are 17 year old amateur and are a scratch golfer then you can enter to qualify for the US Junior Amateur, US Amateur, and the US Open. If you show up to qualify and shoot 90 and do that a couple of times due to a bogus handicap then eventually you will be blocked from attempting to qualify. Your handicap though has no impact on whether you qualify or not. A typical qualifying tournament might have 100 or more players with anywhere between 2-15 qualifying for the actual tournament depending on the size of the area around the tournament. I'm not sure exactly how those numbers are determined. In addition, for the US Open so many people try to qualify there is actually two levels of qualifying. Many though are exempt from the first level. The above is really only useful to the top .1% or so of golfers since the rest are unlikely to even have a handicap that is good enough to try to qualify for one of the national championships. Local tournaments is where you see various usages of the handicap to try to even the playing field. I always found this to not be very enjoyable. A better option in my view for local tournament golf was two day tournaments where after the first day of scores you flight everyone based on that score. So if there were 100 entries you might have 10 flights with ten golfers/teams in each flight. The total combined score wins in each flight so sand bagging is tough since if you end up at the back of a flight it would be harder to win. This only really works if you have a lot of golfers though such that there is a normal distribution of skill levels and almost everyone has a chance to win their flight going into the second day.
  7. The 3d view showing the pitch, roll, and yaw of the board is very interesting. I have felt this data in many ways is more important than just gps data if you really want to know what is going on with the ski. The website is very lacking in details though. For example, I can't find anything regarding the sample rate which is obviously really important. Most of the sports shown don't have any real need for a high sample rate so I am guessing it isn't particularly high.
  8. @bbirlew If you can share what you have I would be happy to look at it and see if there is anything I can do to move the project forward. Are you only able to extract gps coordinates versus time? Looks like the device also has an accelerometer, gyro, etc. Is trace supporting the data extraction via an API or did you just figure it out? Or is it a manual process? It appears they have dedicated apps for other sports to generate summary and detail information about your activity. The API then gives you access to the results but I don't see anything that discusses how to obtain the raw data from the device programmatically.
  9. Any chance you might consider open sourcing the Android app and placing it on Github?
  10. Cool project but it doesn't look like it has on board storage. I doubt it could stream reliably at a high sample rate to your phone if it is in the boat which means your phone would have to be on you while you ski which doesn't sound ideal. Of course you could build a small Android device to connect to it for the sole purpose of saving data and place it in an enclosure with the sensor. At which point the bluetooth isn't necessary and you should probably go back and start from scratch with another sensor.
  11. You can use rowvid.com to view youtube videos at different speeds and even frame by frame. Just paste in the youtube link on their website. Here is the video from above: http://rowvid.com/?v=UMeWeoIVNOI&s=0.25

    FCC Question

My mistake. Engine cranks but doesn't start. I'm pretty sure it is the fuel pump. I pulled the old one off and then hooked it up to a short hose in a can and it still isn't pumping.

    FCC Question

Update: I removed the line between the lower pump and the canister. No fuel coming out of the lower pump when I cycle the ignition on. Must either be the fuel pump or something in the line between the pump and the tank. I will plan to order a pump but if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

    FCC Question

I have a 2005 Ski Nautique 196. Recently the leads into the top of my FCC developed a major fuel leak. I read the notice recently from PCM about this and ordered the replacement part. I installed the replacement part and a new fuel filter and re-installed the canister. Now the boat won't crank. I have checked the leads multiple times and everything appears to be connected. It feels like both the lower pump and the canister vibrate when I use the switch to prime the fuel system. Unfortunately, there is no fuel in the FCC after priming as if the lower pump is no longer working. Seems odd that the lower pump would suddenly fail at the same time. Is there a chance that running it with a leak for a short period of time has created some type of air lock? Would manually filling the canister with fuel and cranking the engine possible fix the problem or should I not do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Chris
