  1. As many of you have seen Horton just announced a platform for coaches to take on lessons. I was stoked to help him a bit with ideas and come to the final product. We took what was great about Givego and made it better. If you're in the market for coaching please feel free to submit a video. I plan on answering lessons with a voiceover your video to give you the best feedback I can. My coaching style is mainly to help build your overall knowledge and focus on improving your movements to help you run a more efficient line through the course and evolve your skiing. Looking forward to some lessons.
  2. Horton just doesn’t like to listen, I told him his boots are too far back. @jjackkrash it’s just how much support you want with the tail. Father forward equals more support as it locks the tail.
  3. @jjackkrash for 68” it would be: 30 11/16 vapor boot 2.480 6.945 .755 9
  4. @C5Quest for 66" Id try: 29 11/16 vapor boot 2.480 6.945 .745
  5. @ETskier Yeah its definitely been around for a while I was taught by Ian Trapp I think back in 2007 and it just stuck.
  6. @101driver Great to hear! Yeah it’s definitely different and I realize it’s not for everyone, but glad to hear it worked. It is for sure more consistent, the only time I’ve had trouble with it is with glare, but that hasn’t happened often. Yes that is correct, and I go out a tad later as the line gets shorter as well.
  7. its just adjusting after the 1st pass, no big deal.
  8. To answer the original question of this thread I just move the spot where I pull out depending on the wind, I don't try to adjust the duration of my pullout. Building off what @twhisper is saying, I definitely am looking at the gates once my pullout has started. This isn't for everyone, but I stand in the same spot and use the left 55 and one ball and use that intersection of them to start my pullout. (I always felt this was extremely consistent) Once my eyes leave there I'm looking at the gates for timing and adjustments like Terry said.
  9. @Horton That is exactly right, your convo with Terry is spot on. Building on what you said at 39, 41, 43 if you watch Nate, Joel, & Freddie they don't finish with their ski pointed 90, because it allows them to control when and where to start loading instead of having to load immediately off the ball and get peeled apart at centerline because there's to much load/speed to handle. I've been working with Rini a lot on my own skiing and learned a ton, but with all of our conversations The things that stand out to me the most with Joel is his legs and what has doing with his arms off the 2nd wake. His legs are super strong and he tries to not to let his legs compress anywhere which equals speed. His arms off the 2nd wake are insane. He rides the swing of the boat so well, I remember talking to @Chris Rossi watching Joels 41 off he ran and what he does off the 2nd wake saved him in the back half of the pass.
  10. For where you're at The Boarding School is your best bet; one of the best sites in FL. Wind is never an issue and you get to Ski with Travis and Freddie if he's not traveling. Matt Rinis place is also top notch and highly recommend his site too. I realize its a lot farther for you, but he is close to MCO airport if you're flying in/out of there. You get top level coaching and you get to hang/watch and be around top level skiers.
  11. That’s awesome! No doubt TX hospitality is great! I hope WI treats you guys amazing! Summers are awesome there! @rq0013
  12. @rq0013 Rob what the heck!? Beautiful home by the way! Wow. If I was moving to TX I'd scoop this up!
  13. @d36_ Stoked to hear you're back skiing! I would definitely check out the Senate line from Radar. Especially if you ski in rough/windy conditions they're amazing. Feel free to PM me with any questions I'd be happy to help you out!
  14. @rico I think said they will do online practice but he'll chime in and confirm.
  15. @DonT @101driver I'd go bigger if you're comfortable with it from 1.062, but either way will help. The idea is you're changing the way you grip the handle just enough that it will take stress off the tendon. So your hand is not gripping the same exact way day in and day out.
  16. @101driver The back is usually always the effect of something else like you said. I would definitely try to focus on stretching your hip flexors and doing some hip mobility work like others have mentioned. That will help loosen it up. Hips take major abuse in our sport. One thing I always tell people too is work on your core....A LOT. the stronger your core the more it protects your back. Abs recover extremely fast, so you can work them a lot. @DonT change your handle diameter through the year it will help with the elbows. Go back and forth every few weeks or month depending on how much you ski.
  17. @Stevie Boy hit the nail on the head. Simple is best. Don't over complicate or overthink it. The better you can perceive what you're trying to work on and dumb it down; the better. Also the statement about the keys is dead on too. Never more than 3.
  18. @Slalom.Steve @aupatking I ran short deep on the 24 for more than a year and then went to long/shallow to try a different route and felt like I could work with the boat better. The ski works extremely well with both settings there isn’t a wrong answer, I’ve ran short/deep on almost every one of our skis. it’s just what feels more comfortable to you. We’re recommending people to start at short/deep when they get the ski and then like @Chris Rossi said give long/ shallow a try soon after to feel the difference.
  19. @Slalom.Steve I would start at Short/deep first then try Long/shallow.
  20. @Slalom.Steve That's a definitely a different scenario than just switching skis mid summer. I would ride the ski for a while at short/deep maybe 10 sets and once you feel a bit more comfortable make the move and try long/shallow. That way you have more of a baseline. Your biggest obstacle is more getting back into the groove of skiing.
  21. @gmut Yes Joel was on the 24 for sure.
  22. Yes very important! thanks for adding that @skialex
  23. @vtmecheng Its used just like @skialex is using it; its to keep the bungee in place so it doesn't fly around and so it stays tight and doesn't loosen.
