  1. Jody, the Rules Committee is actively working on some modifications regarding the Elite (Pro) skiers that includes a Pro Grouping. Stay tuned.
  2. I am on my 3rd ZO GPS puck (made by Garmin). First one failed early last year, the latter two sometime this past fall. When one fails the other covers and, unless you frequently visit the diagnostic screen, you will not know that you have a problem until you have NO speed control. The other interesting factor is that once both pucks fail, so does the MC speedometer (2013 MC PS). I learned this the hard way with several trips to the dealer (150 mile RT) in which the triducer and then the head unit were replaced with no effect. Once the ZO unit was disconnected the speedo worked fine. Nobody at MC technical services seemed to know about the relationship. Both I and the dealer spent a lot of time and money to correct all of this. Obviously the electrical designers and the service people do not talk much there in Tennessee. Garmin seems to have a reputable name in the business but their pucks need a lot of help. When the boat is not on the water it is parked in a covered boathouse - sun damage can hardly be a factor. The cost of these pucks is in the $450 range so ZO and Garmin have sunk some cash in my replacements. You would think that somebody would be interested in "why"!
  3. Everything said about Eric is ABSOLUTELY true!!!
  4. Brady, ignore all of these other solicitations; the best deal you will get on a '14 Prostar is in this ad on SIA: SIA24687. It is also advertised on InBoardsOnly as a featured ad. While the penicillin is working you can drive over to Houston to pick it up.
  5. I get the feeling that many are suffering from "sticker shock" on these new boats. We are deep into the era of the $50K boat. I have watched people write a check for a $120K wakeboard boat at a boat show while others are shocked at the price of a water ski boat - same motor, equivalent features. It is an interesting cultural take on things...
  6. To Sunperch and others: please don't mix personal insurance with site insurance. Site policies often have a small amount of medical coverage as do boat policies. They all need to be tapped in case of an injury. What I have outlined is a way to use the USA-WS personal insurance available through a membership. For site insurance, sportinsurance.com may have a good deal; we all need to check it out.
  7. Kevin, get with Jay Bennett and get your reservation in for one of his 6.2's. Also, think about becoming close friends with a bank. The price of the boat will get your attention.
  8. Kevin, why wait until the fall. Check out SIA24687 on the Ski-it-Again site under Promo Boats.
  9. The insurance that comes with the USA-WS membership only works with a sanctioned event. Therefore, to make it work for you, whether you are a tournament skier or not, requires a few steps. In order to demonstrate the steps consider a group of skiers (4) who meet 2-3 times/week for skiing. In order to use the insurance value of their membership, here is what they should do: 1. Three of the 4 would need to be full active members of USA-WS at $80 each. 2. These 3 could be President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer of an Affiliated Club. (You need a club to sanction a practice – see #7 below) 3. The cost to register an Affiliated Club is $100. 4. The other one can register as a Grass-Roots member at $35 each (However, Grass-Roots members CANNOT get a Driver’s rating). 5. The three full active members can get a Trained Drivers Rating - $21($29.50 with 30% discount) for the online course and $12.50 each for an MVR check. 6. The practical test of the Trained Drivers course requires a Regular or Senior Driver to check, so the three candidates would need to find someone who can help here; “bribing” costs unknown but probably zero. 7. Sanction the practice using the Club ID and password. Sanction for 1 April through 30 November 6 a.m. to 9 p.m each day. No cost here, just keyboard time. Total cost? $475.00. This will give you secondary accident insurance ($1000 deductible and a limit of $10,000) plus liability coverage of up to $2 million depending on the liability. If the 4 individuals split the cost evenly that is $118.75/person/season. If all 4 became trained drivers then the cost would be $138.50/person/season. All of this assumes that the group that skis together stays together. You can play with the numbers further; e.g. a rated driver would not have the online course expense and could check off the others, etc. Everyone needs to put this in the context of their own lifestyle. What is your primary insurance? Do you need a secondary and so on. For some, this could be a very nice VALUE. What are your thoughts about this?
  10. Two of the carpet snaps are designed for the area directly in front of the pylon. People may vividly remember stepping on those snaps when the carpet is removed. Interestingly, the two sides and back of the carpeting are nicely held in place by the motor box cover. Snaps may not be that necessary for routine use.
  11. Let's try adding the picture this time. Again, do you like carpeting or the white fiberglass floor as seen in this picture??
  12. This boat comes with optional snap in-out carpeting. Do you like carpeting or the white fiberglass floor as seen in the picture?
  13. This boat has solid credentials and is NOT a lemon. I have too much capital tied up in boats and I am selling the boat with the greatest VALUE. Again, check out SIA 24687.
  14. NO, it is AVAILABLE NOW!! And, the price is set to move it now!
  15. For anyone interested in a great price on a 2014 MasterCraft Prostar, please check out SIA Promo ad SIA24687
