Reflex which appeared to be a bad spring. Replaced the heel piece and never had a problem after that.

I downloaded the app this morning and found the instructions to install and get started pretty clear. I like the format and the defaults. I echo others concern about the ability to access the data over time. I used to track in an app called "Waterski", it worked well for the basics of balls and line length but when the developer got tired of supporting it and Apple updated its operating system the data is no longer available. I like the suggestion made by JRS about a process similar to the one used by the pilot log book.

@Skoot1123 I love the reverse color on that boat. I had a 2000 white with black logo but the red with white tops it.

I am amazed with the work Perfect Pass has done. The new version of their software is way easier to set up and once set up is much easier to drive and give a good pull. I have a 93 prostar with the newest version of stargazer with z-box and find it hard to distinguish between it and zero-off. However the 200 or new prostar have way less spray as the line shortens and way more room for people and gear.

A lot of thought and innovation went into the redesign. There is much to like. I think they raised the bar.

I have never owned an Echelon but had friend who did and skied with them. A nice ski boat from that era. If it's in good condition it would be a good choice. I owned a 92 ProStar for several years and my wife is still disappointed I sold it. I recently skied behind my old boat and it is still a great slalom tug. The only thing it lacks is zero off and fuel injection. On the other hand Stargazer with z-box does a pretty good job of emulating zero-off and if you have to fix a fuel problem a carb is way cheaper than a fuel injection system.

I don't dry boots or gloves but don't see any reason why one couldn't. I do use a dryer for snow ski boots and the intuition liner looks the same to me. I do use a produce called UK hangair wet suit dryer. It has an electric fan built in the hanger and will dry a wetsuit/drysuit overnight. A dry wetsuit is a lot more pleasant to put on.

@bassfooter and @epyscs did you have closed cooling systems with a heat exchanger or were the boats you had to replace risers on using salt water in a raw water cooling system? The boat I am looking at has a closed cooling system with a heat exchanger. I think that should make it so the heat exchanger is subject to corrosion issues but the engine and risers should be without concern. Thoughts?

@SWC5150 I wouldn't be using it in salt. I would be moving to fresh water.

I am looking at a newer nautique equipped with a closed cooling system and coastal edition option. It has about 100 hours of use and appears to be well taken care of. The owner is experienced with salt water use and explained that he would flush out the salt water after each use. Would you consider purchasing a salt water boat? If so would you pay as much for a salt water boat as a fresh water boat? Why?

Great comments. We've got 400# in driver and crew and put 35# in the nose. The only thing I noticed with the weighted nose is one had to be more careful in not diving the nose through a wave. I didn't notice it being easier to drive (as others have pointed out it tracks well already) and I didn't notice a softer or harder wake. I'm a 15 off opener with an occasional 28 off pass.

I had to recalibrate the baselines on my PerfectPass. We dropped about 200 rpm across the board. I'm pleased with the change to the Acme 422.

I had the steering cable and rudder packing changed and got my boat back today. Unlike most of you my cable wasn't stiff but had about three inches of play in it. Making the changes has made the boat feel much more connected. In addition to changing the cable I changed out the original OJ Legend and installed the Acme 422. I've not skied behind it and I'm going to have to recalibrate my Perfect Pass but I am impressed with the prop. It seems to have a stronger hole shot ( using my seat of the pants accelerometer) and it appears to have dropped about 200 rpm to maintain the same speed.

Onside135 and Orlando you both suggested weighting the nose of the Ski Nautique. What have you used for weight? Where in the nose have you put the weight and how have you kept it from moving around?

I'm at about 3,000 feet and currently run an OJ Legend 13 x 16. I think the prop is original to the boat. My numbers were 4700 rpm off my Perfect Pass reading and 42.7 MPH.

To balance the wake when we don't have an observer we use a small ballast sack. Straightline makes a 150 lb bag. When you don't need it, it doesn't take up any room.

Our boat does have perfect pass star gazer with Z box. We frequently end up skiing without an observer so we weight the passenger side with a couple of Straighline water filled bricks which weigh about 80# each. We lay them beside the the engine compartment and passenger seat. My only complaint is we have about three inches of helm rotation before engagement. I have ordered a steering cable and rudder packing and will see if that tightens things up. Thanks for the comments on things others have done.
