  1. My best guess for the highest correlation between a physical excercise and skiing would be a dead hang. Grip strength needed to hold onto the handle, lower body weight is advantageous, and straight arms to transfer the loads more efficiently. I bet the top male and female skiers would all be good at a dead hang
  2. @nautique1228 When you hit the mini at Bennett's did you use various height settings or was the mini the same height each time?
  3. Earlier this year Jeff Roberts and I started a company building mini jumps. The mini jump has been an essential training tool for teaching beginner jumpers. Our headquarters in Dow, IL has had a mini jump since 2007 that has lead to the development of numerous jumpers including national, regional and state records. All 7 of the skiers on Lake Richard have been ranked in the top 10 nationally in their careers, and they all learned to jump on a mini jump. Top ski schools such as Coble Waterski School and Bennett' Ski School each use a mini jump to teach new jumpers. Just ask April or Jay their thoughts on the importance of teaching on a mini jump. We saw a need to build these mini jumps and get more of them across the country. Teaching jump skiing in a safe manner is crucial to the long term development of a skier. We wanted to build a proper jump that looks and feels just like the real thing. Our aluminum frame, fully height adjustable, fiberglass surface mini jump is built to teach generations of skiers how to jump. We are taking all the guess work out of the equation and offering a finished product ready to be anchored down. With my degree in Mechanical Engineering and Jeff's years of experience in the jumping world, we have built a product that will impress you. We sold our first jump to Bennett's ski school where it will be used and tested like no other place. If you want any more information please visit our website: https://www.minijumpramp.com/ You can also head down to Bennett's to try it out for yourself!
  4. There is a course on lake sunapee but it’s submersible so you’d never know it was there unless someone was skiing on it
  5. Same thing happened to our 17 prostar. The bolts that go through the tracking fin were loose. Tightened these and it is much better
  6. I tore my ACL and MCL in a jump crash last summer. I had ACL surgery with patellar graft. It was 6 months before I started to slalom and trick and 10 months before I started to jump again. I cannot agree more with just how important the PT is to your recovery
  7. Getting ready to repair the jump ramp and have a few questions. When do you know it is time for a gel coat repair? Im seeing some fiberglass strands so I think that a pretty good indicator. Do I gel coat the entire surface? Does anyone have any advice on what brand gel coat or where I can buy it?
  8. Tore my ACL and MCL in a jump crash this summer. Got surgery in August. should be back to skiing by February!
  9. I really think Nationals should be an event that people feel special just qualifying so so they are more likely to go. While I like the idea of the ranking list I think there is too much emphasis on it. Why go to Nationals when a local tournament helps your rankings list equally as Nationals? We need to put more emphasis on placement at tournaments versus scores. Winning Nationals should be the greatest amateur achievement in our sport!
  10. I train mostly with no speed control. Just hand driving. Tournament best of 3 @ -35 36mph
  11. Stitches on the rear shin. Out the front ejection leading to the tip of the ski hitting my rear shin. Not really the type of injury your looking to record though
  12. Why don't we just have everyone ski in their age group divisions and then those who qualify for OM/OW or MM/MW ski additionally in those divisions of they want. If we exclude the best skiers from their age groups the national champion means nothing. This would also put a or more people in MM/MW, which is good, because they would get to ski twice. This makes an incentive for skiers to ski in MM/MW but still put the meaning back in the age group national champion. This would also solve the overall issue because you would ski all 3 events in your age division but can also ski MM/MW in one event of you qualify.
  13. So if a skier on their opener rounds 6 and then heads to an imaginary 7 ball therefore missing the exit gates early does the skier get a score of 6 at the slowest speed and long line or at their opening speed?
  14. I personally prefer a hardshell for tricks. I had been attempting flips for about a year with no success with a radar strada front boot and then I decided to buy a FM hardshell. The very first day I tried the hardshell I landed a flip for the first time. I think the hardshell just allowed me to hold the edge much more, than my softer boot previously, when cutting into the wake
  15. high school teams would be a huge benefit but I doubt that many high school would have access to a ski lake near by
  16. The announcers really made the whole experience a lot better. Competing for a team also adds a whole new level of excitement to a tournament. I think those two things alone would help the sport if implemented into regular AWSA tournaments
  17. Who at Masterline should I contact if I am trying to order a custom trick handle?
  18. @Than_Bogan there is one in Charlton MA
  19. I skied on an HO blast combo all the way up to 30 mph
  20. @arigold22 first set on the new boot and I landed a flip for the first time ever! I definitely love it. It's comfortable and much more responsive than my strada binding I was using before
