Selling our '02 SN, just had it out yesterday and today and she runs like a top! Almost having second thoughts after posting the SIA ad but we just don't get enough time to use it here in Gainesville as the nearest skiable lake is 45 min away and I need to free up some garage space. @yardsale there were significant changes in '02 (first year of TSC2 hull) which make it totally different than its TSC1 predecessor. Interior space between the gunnels was improved due to removing the interior gunnel steps, got a trunk behind the stern seat. Wetted surface of the hull changed pretty significantly as well. It's like comparing a NWZ hull to a TSC1 hull. They are in different categories, therefore will be priced differently as well, with a TSC2 hull commanding more money than a similarly kept TSC1, because it is a better boat, not just because it is newer.

@rockdog, agreed Precision Star is awesome and the install is a breeze. Also agree with @GOODESkier although it is well known that phone GPS aps are not very accurate compared to a real GPS. If you have a Garmin or TomTom or some old one from your car laying around, that's a good option, and you can plug into your accessory plug. That's what I used to use until I got Stargazer. @skigirl you say your '02 has the paddlewheel so I'm assuming that your gauges were already swapped for the Faria kit and you no longer have the original digital Teleflex gauges? I still have one of the Faria swaps in my '02 and it is never very accurate. I've played around with the potentiometer until I was blue in the face. I've given up on it. If you don't want to fork over the cash for speed control, your next best option is the Precision Star route.

You will almost always pay more for something at a local pro shop. You are paying for convenience, personalized service, expertise, and the warm peace of mind that if there is a problem with your purchase that you can go back and get it resolved quickly and easily. I tell my customers I offer 3 things with my product: price, quality, and service. You can choose 2 of these things but not all 3. If you pick quality and service then you can't have the best price. Just that simple. Value added service is what I sell. Some customers just don't get it and that's ok too. You can't please everyone. But I go the extra mile for the ones that do get it.

@scotchipman, dealer invoice doesn't mean squat anymore, why do you think the dealers want to show you? There is so much hidden money and back end rebates, dealer incentives, etc etc that nobody but the dealership owner and GM really know what the true cost of a vehicle is. It's all magic beans, smoke and mirrors.

Living in FL since 1990 I can definitely say I love it here. I think the north Tampa area is still a hidden gem when it comes to abundance of private lakes (Lutz & Land 'o Lakes areas). Close enough to commute to Tampa for work and lakefront property still relatively inexpensive. As for Orlando....MEH! After being there from '99-2013 I don't think I would move back. Living in Gainesville now and love it here although the good ski lakes are all 30-40 minutes away and I no longer have access to a course.

@swc5150, the first year is tough, the second gets much, much better. Our 22mo old daughter loves the boat, she sat on mama's lap yesterday and helped pull me for a couple footin' runs. Nothing cooler than getting back in the boat hearing your daughter yelling "Dada 'ki!"

Awesome looking boat and that Chevy was a pretty rare option. Air guides are not original but I guess I'm just nitpicking. Very clean example for fair price. I hope some young wake boarder doesn't buy it and put a tower on it and ruin it.

I think @Onside135 is pretty much on the money. The deals are out there, you just have to find them. And it definitely is market driven as well. It's very subjective. Options, condition, etc will factor in as well. I see a ton of boats advertised with "new interior", only to see pictures that looked like their wife sewed it together in their garage. Or even a good interior job with skins that don't come close to resembling what came from the factory. IMO that will severely impact the price of the boat for me. I snatched up my minty fresh '02 TSC2 boat less than a year ago with all original, like-new interior, Stargazer w/ZBox, heater, and every other option offered except shower. Perfect gelcoat, and very nice Ramlin trailer, also with cover and bimini for $16.5k. He was asking $18.5k. Did I get a great deal? I dunno, but it was a good deal in my book. Right now getting into spring/summer the prices will obviously be higher as peak demand is now here. Best time to sell. And lots of buyers that don't mind paying higher prices so they can get on the water. Overall, the market will dictate the price but I am seeing a lot of TSC1 boats now in sub $10k range. NWZ hulls seem to be pretty comparable to the TSC1's which is surprising.

The guy in Vermont posted up on PN back in mid-march asking for guidance to which I responded with the below. Seems most on there thought I was off base. Looks like they are still for sale so maybe I wasn't that for off after all. Or maybe he just isn't that interested in actually selling them. Who knows. If I'm listing something for sale, I want to sell it, not sit on it. "Take a look on onlyinboards.com and ski-it-again.com and see what they are listing at. Although listing is different than selling. Do you want to sit on them for a while and deal with a bunch of tire-kickers or do you want to get rid of them? If you want to sell them, my guess is that '97 will go in the neighborhood around $11-12k. The '00 probably about the same. The SNOB's are still commanding more money. 2000-01 boats have a little bit of a black eye because of the "N-swoop" graphic that very few people like, and the Teleflex digital gauge issue. I've got the Faria replacements in my '02 and while they do function, they don't function very well as far as accuracy goes. I've got PP Stargazer so I know the gps speedo on that is about as accurate as it gets. I'd post them up on CL, onlyinboards, and SIA at a fair price and you should get plenty of action. Getting in to prime buying season now"

@Wish, that masters green one was a rarity. I still think there must have been something wrong with it or he just needed the cash. There's definitely deals out there but it does seem that FL and TX have the majority of them.

After further research I decided to get a Carver sun-dura cover. 95% of the time our boat is safe in the garage. The only time I need the cover is if we tow down the 2 hours to my parents house or to my brother-in-laws house to leave on his lake for the weekend. The sun-dura cover was $300 shipped including trailer tie-downs. @MS, wish I saw your post before I ordered! Oh well. That cover "should" (not certain) fit '02-08. The TSC3 hull is ever slightly different, beam is only 3/4" narrower and OA length minus platform is also 3/4" shorter. Not sure exactly what they did to the deck to change the dimensions, I thought the only differences b/w TSC2 and TSC3 was below the waterline. Maybe Jody can chime in with what I'm missing.

I emailed commercialsewing since Coversports is really far out on their lead times right now, and they told me they only sell through Nautique dealers who have to buy directly through Nautique. That's 2 extra channels of markup so the end user price is astronomical. The covers look really nice but I just can't justify spending well over $1000 on a cover for a SN196. There's just not that much material to justify the cost.

Using corrugated pipe can get expensive quickly. I assume you are referring to something like this: http://www.ads-pipe.com/en/product.asp?page=N-12_Plain_End_Pipe Not sure that will work in your application in only 4" diameter. You may need to go larger to achieve your desired results.
