ZACHARY, LA- Due to economic crisis, the MasterCraft Pro Waterski Tour has been canceled for 2009. But have no fear! Despite the industry situation, the LA Night Jam will be making a return to the Baton Rouge area on Saturday June 6. This event can be described as an extreme sports competition meets family festival. Set under a stadium lit lake, local vendors, musicians, athletes and fans gather for the most unique night out of the summer. There is something for everyone including: eats and drinks, shopping, amusements, children’s entertainment, a full bar… even a dog park! A broad spectrum of watersports will be included but only the best waterski jumpers in the world will qualify for their chance to compete in the LA Night Jam finals held under the lights.

Last year the LA Night Jam was named the most successful stop on the Mastercraft Pro Waterski Tour. This year, due to economic downfall, the Pro Tour is no longer in action. With a slow start and very unsure decision, Bennett’s Waterski School decided to give it a go and bring back the LA Night Jam. This event relies solely on local support and special industry contacts.

The LA Night Jam is planned to be bigger and better than ever!! Thanks to the Zachary and Baton Rouge communities the funding is stable and the prize money may even go up from last year. More attractions have been added and the VIP section totally revamped. As far as competiton goes, Freddy “the nightmare” Krueger, last year’s reigning champion, will be back again to hold his throne! This LSU grad currently holds the Record for the longest distance jump of 230’ in the dark. Also making a return in June Fladborg of Denmark. This girl is the 08 champion and will hold nothing back to keep her title. Radar Waterskis is sponsoring a slalom head to head competition staring Ian Trapp and Trent Finlayson. Eagle Sports Barefooters will be demonstrating a new realm of barefooting including barefoot jump and freestyle. Dan Olson of Chicago, sponsored by HOskis will be making the trip to Louisiana to show his stuff on the new up and coming wake skis. And for you wakeboarders out there, Rukus’ rail jam will be going on all evening. Live land entertainment will be provided by Pyro Vixen, Mark Klein, and Above Me.

Major local supporters include: Turner Industries, Mockler Beverage, Custom Audio and Video, Vitamin Water, Sammys Grill, Upper Crust Bistro, Hancock Bank, Baton Rouge Orthopedic, GM Contractors, and The Station.
