Baller FishFreq Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 Just ordered a new Masterline Grey Optimized slalom rope and I'm curious how most of you break-in or pre-stress a brand new rope? I've usually just skied with my new ropes and they are what they are. My rope last year was an S-Line R32 (least stretch) and that's what I did with it. Some people stretch their new ropes between a tree and a truck, but how tight do you pull it and for how long do you let it set? Searched this topic everywhere and I guess the topic is too generic and I came up with nuthin'. TIA!
Baller_ Mastercrafter Posted August 5 Baller_ Share Posted August 5 (edited) Ski it a set. And then keep skiing. I think your past method is best. Edited August 5 by Mastercrafter
Baller skihacker Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 I used to swear that the first couple sets on a new rope were "squishy" but honestly my last 2 slines ropes felt fine first time out, out of package onto pylon and hit it.
Baller BGrow76 Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 No need to break in ropes anymore from the top rope companies like S-Lines/MasterLine/In Tow and a few others, they are good to go out of the box.
Baller JackQ Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 You may be overthinking it, I just put the rope on the plyon and ski. I may fee a little stretchiness for a couple pass at the most.
Baller 6balls Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 Let your ski partner ski first! 2
Baller Golfguy Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 Ski it out for sure. Have a lighter person ski first as they will be less likely to notice stretchiness.
Baller skialex Posted August 5 Baller Share Posted August 5 Slide loop ropes, the way they are constructed… don’t need to break them in, or not that much. Opt2 and s lines are constructed like this. Classic loop ropes, need a set or two for the knots to be tighten, so when using one… I just throw it in the boat saying nothing and take it back later that day…😊

Baller kc Posted August 6 Baller Share Posted August 6 Rossi discusses this in the new episode of Spraymakers that dropped today. Same advice as others here, just go ski!
