Skiing in Cancun or Cozumel?

I am looking for a slalom course and ski school options in Mexico. We are most interested in a slalom course near Cancun or Cozumel. My son is skiing into 35 off and has a chance to visit the area so we are looking for options he might be able to check out.

Nothing in Coz, been there many times diving. I think there's an entire older thread about a place in Cancun (on the lagoon) not sure if it's still up/running.

Not sure of the link but Gordon rathbun’s place is probably the best ski school/ vacation option in Mexico. I believe it’s ski paradiseThere is also a place in costa Rico that used to be run by Jim kilsdonk

Costa Rico is great for a vacation and adding some skiing. Especially if you have some non skiers in the group or just can't take more than 2 sets a day. Jim plans activities in the afternoon.

I tried to search for any threads mentioning Cozumel or Cancun and didn't find anything. My son found this link for something in Cancun. https://www.waterskicancun.com/. Not sure how valid it is, but this is our only lead so far. Ski Paradise in Alcalpulco looks amazing but is totally out of the budget at the moment. It's on the bucket list though.

I want to say I remember someone saying Club Med in Cancun had a course. I know its not either of the cities above but Playa Del Carmen has a site called Mayan Water Complex. Its a cable park along with a lake that runs for slalom.

@ColeGiacopuzzi - club med Cancun used to have a course in the lagoon behind the resort until mid 2021 when at night a small kid wandered down, went past a gate at the lagoon edge and a croc grabbed him. He survived, but as you can imagine that ended their waterski/wakeboard program permanently.

They used to have a set of hardcore skiers that would come every year. They also didn’t tell clients already booked for the winter (like me!) that they had shut it down. I happened to notice in the Fall the website no longer listed waterskiing, so I caught it in time to change resorts - many others were not so lucky.

Baby croc near the buildings that hang over the edge of the lagoon, warning sign you pass on the way down to the waterski dock :-)

@Jmoski Thank you. I did see Club Med mentioned and I wondered if they really had a course. I appreciate that update and I'm glad you caught it and were able to change plans. :-)

Yeah - it’s too bad that happened, they had a good set up and was the perfect combination of beach resort for my wife and skiing for me.

Water Ski Cancun is legit. I skied with Scott Smith a few times and he has several courses on the bay side of Cancun. Great guy good instructor but older boats.

The mayan cable park site someone mentioned was just poorly laid out for the prevailing winds. wasn't someone on here running the site a few years back? I believe the issue was that most days its just blown out.
