Guest
SLines ropes are awesome! I'm just wrapping up my first full season of skiing on SLines ropes in practice and tourneys and it's quality accurate stuff. Customer service is amazing and the price is right. Honest company to work with and I cant wait to get a new handle from them, soon!
Baller TMay Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 Same experience here, also looking forward to a new handle!!
Baller Shell Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 We have used them in our ski club tournaments and have our own personal ropes as well, I love them, great quality and customer service! Way to go Scott!
Baller Dano Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 What’s the time line for their handles to hit the market?
Baller MDB1056 Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 Just heard from Scott on an inquiry, he noted ropes with marking sleeves coming next month. Yes - also anxious to hear on handles.
Baller Than_Bogan Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 @mdb1056 What are marking sleeves for? Always wondered about that. Could there really be anyone who has advanced to shortening the rope in the slalom course who doesn't know the colors?I'm certainly interested in what S-Lines will offer for handles, though! Baller jcamp Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 The biggest question for me is, are S Lines (and which model) similar enough in feel to the Optimized 2.0 rope that I most often see at tournaments?
Baller Mastercrafter Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 I have been skiing with the R3 (least stretch) and I think it's just a tad stiffer than my season-old Optimized. Perhaps the Competition S Lines (medium stretch) would be a good match for the 2.0.
Baller Drago Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 @jcamp I recommend staying away from those tournaments ?
Baller Dacon62 Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 Have an Opt. 2 and freinds have an mid stretch S-lines. Broke both in with approximately 12 sets.Attached both at 28 off and pulled hard on both at the same time on land. The feel and stretch amount was the same for both.Long range the ropes may lose stretch or deteriorate at different rates but don’t have any insight on that yet. Baller MDB1056 Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 @Than_Bogan - yes colors are easy to remember. No question. My current ropes however are all black, and of course sleeves are just easier than counting the loops when switching skiers . Purely convenience for a one color rope. Baller Vernon Reeve Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 A long time ago (20 years?), I used to buy the fancy rope with the sleeves, don't remember the brand anymore, from the local store. Then each year I would return it for a new set because some of the sleeves had the wrong numbers. So new rope every year:)
Baller BlueSki Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 @Than_Bogan I have found that many observers are better at shapes and colors than numbers, but when I forget that and use the number when I ask for the rope to be shortened, the sleeve can help avoid confusion. Baller vtmecheng Posted October 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2022 Sleeves are really important for color blind
Baller MDB1056 Posted October 23, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2022 Just saw that S Lines will start handle production in December
Baller Hucklefin Posted October 24, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2022 If S-lines does an ergo roll similar to the masterline version, I am purchasing a rope and handle immediately!
Baller dbaconaz Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 can not wait for the S-line handle!!
Baller BraceMaker Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 @Dacon62 had to read your post a few times, at first thought you were saying you guys broke both ropes (like snapped them) within 12 sets. Took me a bit to get "broke-in" vs. broke in-with.
Baller Deanoski Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 12 wasted sets OUCHI don't know about the R-3 is that the correct name for the stiffest S line,IMO The comp is a bungy waisted a few sets then stretched it with the truck, but never wanted to waste water time so when buck to my M/L
Baller_ MISkier Posted October 25, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted October 25, 2022 I believe there is a new rope version from S lines (possibly called X something with a gray mainline) that is going to emerge as the preferred choice. I heard a prototype is in the hands of some high end skiers for evaluation and I think one was in use at one of the last tournaments of the year here in Michigan. If it was, I skied it and it was good. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Dacon62 Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 To be more clear about my post above.Neither rope broke. They were both given a “break in” period of approximately 12 sets then the stretch test was done and it was observed and felt that both the Opt. 2 and middle stretch S-lines rope were identical in stretch characteristics. Sorry if the wording was confusing.
Baller RAWSki Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 We ran our last two tournaments with the R3 ropes with great results-- quality products, skiers seem to handle the S-LInes just fine, just like skis and gloves everyone will have their own personal preference. Baller UWSkier Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 I'm skiing on the prototype rope and I really like it. Best feel of any rope I've ever skied out of the box. At 250+ lbs, and starting at 22 off, the stiffer rope is a must-have for feeling connected to the boat at all spots on the course.
Baller MI3Eventer Posted October 25, 2022 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2022 @MISkier confirmed the "prototype" was used at the last MI tournament. Our club has been using that newer model since mid-August I believe, and it was well received. I also love how bright the colors are and the grey mainline looks sharp.
