Baller andjules Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 It's been a long time coming, but it looks like Jacinta Carroll finally started the women's 200' club in jumping. Reminder: Yes, that's on a 5.5' ramp and max speed of 33.5mph (thanks @jjackkrash) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVrD-BIvcFb/?utm_medium=copy_link
Baller klindy Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 Almost 40 years after an Australian male went over 200’ as well. Interesting they both with 202’. Jacinta will go farther. I believe this is probably still the ‘most likely to be broken’ record.
Baller dave2ball Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 Pretty awesome to this record in person. And given the conditions I believe she can go further.
Baller jjackkrash Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 Over 200 with less max speed and ramp angle than men are allowed. If she carries a wallet I am pretty sure its one of these. https://www.amazon.com/Officially-Licensed-Bi-fold-Embroidered-Genuine/dp/B01M4O8KSI
Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 I believe Jacinta is the most dominant waterskier of our time. I can't recall the last time she entered a tournament and didn't win it. And she often wins by 6 to 10 feet or more. She's literally in a class of her own. Administrators Horton Posted October 31, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 31, 2021 @Andre I changed out the picture you posted because if any mention of BallOfSpray is banned on water ski hub so I guess I should ban any image cut and pasted from water ski hub. Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted October 31, 2021 Gold Member Share Posted October 31, 2021 When/where? I thought I watched all of her jumps in the pro event this weekend. If I somehow missed that one, does anyone know the timestamp to watch it?
Baller Kelvin Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 @Than_Bogan It's after the men's finals in an extra round of the tournament. I believe its around the 9:03 mark of the webcast.
Baller Mateo_Vargas Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 It was after the men's jump finals. They ran another round for anyone that wanted to set a record. Nice to see the Rabbit didn't play the I'm not setting a record behind a boat other than her sponsor game.

Administrators Horton Posted October 31, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 31, 2021 @klindy Bruce jumped 200 in 1988 or 1991ish. I was there. So no more than 33 years ago. Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted October 31, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted October 31, 2021 Glenn thurlow (Aussie) was the first to break 200 (202) Pretty sure thats who @klindy was thinking about. It was 1984 give or take a year or 2. @Horton was probably too young to remember that :p If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding

Baller klindy Posted November 1, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2021 Correct @Bruce_Butterfield Glen Thurlow, 61.57m (202’) in March, 1983 at Moomba.
Baller ghutch Posted November 1, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2021 What an awesome moment for her! I watched it earlier and it was a joy to watch her pure happiness and pride in what she has worked so diligently to achieve. She has done something no other woman in the world has done and thats just massive impressive! Congrats Jacinta!!!
Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted November 1, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2021 @Horton you seriously panda'd yourself. ?Being the jumper you once were and the trips you made to Australia to ski at Moomba, etc that was a big miss. I think Thurlow's 202' was so special being at Moomba in his home country in front of a huge crowd while behind an outboard speed boat on 72 inch skis that look like trick skis compared to modern jumpers. Per capita Australia has produced some great water skiers. Jacinta is definitely doing her part. It's super cool that both the first man and now the first woman to exceed 200' are both Aussies. Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted November 1, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2021 Also, just did a little research...the first woman over 150' was an Australian, Sue Lippagos (sp?). There must be something in the water down under.

Baller BraceMaker Posted November 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2021 @APB why can't OW go 36mph? its the same question basically.
Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted November 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2021 For ages women jumpers jumped a 5 ft ramp. Their max boat speed increased from 28 to 30 to 32 mph. Great women's jumpers were going 150+ off the 5 ft at 32 on the standard jump skis of the day - 70" or 72". Now they go off a 5.5 ft ramp like the men's 1 and men's 2 divisions. The women's jumpers are as impressive as the slalom and trick competitors.
Baller LeonL Posted November 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2021 @APB Well all of us are, and the organization is, sexist, that's why. (joke) Why does the speed go down for men at 35 years old. Sure they can ski faster, but the max does go down and again at age 65, and at 75. Someone provide @APB with an answer to those cases and that may satisfy his query.
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted November 2, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted November 2, 2021 Congradulations to Jacinta she has worked hard for that moment and justly deserved. Incredible for sure especially since she did it at 33.6 mph and on a 5 and a half ramp. I do think had the world adopted the universal ramp settings (ski fly ramp) She would have done it 10 years ago and there would be others that may have eclipesed the 200 mark by now also and safer! One can only imagine the site picture to get on the ramp at only 54k or 33.6 mph and go 200' . Again fearless athlete great world record..
