Guest
I was running across the lake yesterday with now problems and out of nowhere the boat just stopped and engine revved up. I placed shifter in neutral and tried to put it back in fwd and could hear knocking. It did not go in fed. Back to neutral and the knocking was still there. Any thoughts? Baller MNshortliner Posted July 4, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 4, 2021 I had a similar problem once. The splined collar on the dampener plate broke. If you separate the engine from the transmission it is right there and easy to replace.
Baller TomH Posted July 4, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 4, 2021 Did your shift cable break, or come out of/loosen in the clamp? If it loosened in the clamp, it could be sliding around rather than moving the inner cable in the sheath, and not getting enough push/throw to engage the transmission. You can try manually shifting it back at the tranny to figure out if it's cable or control related.
Tom85
Thanks. I guess I’m leaning to the damper drive. Shift Cable is working. I also disconnected the cable and tried to shift by hand with the same results.
