Baller BugHunter Posted August 14, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 14, 2020 We had the problem with the boat (2019 Prostar) during the winter months (Florida) and now in the summer when we go very early in the morning. Any products I can try to prevent the windows from fogging up?
Baller Lars Posted August 14, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 14, 2020 probably a foreign concept to you Floridians but in the north we use what's called a heater and point it at the windshield ;)
Baller Andre Posted August 14, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 14, 2020 Wonder if product like RainX would work... My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller_ Wish Posted August 14, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted August 14, 2020 Which side? In the boat side or out of the boat side. ?
Baller thager Posted August 15, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 15, 2020 RainX also makes an anti-fog.
Baller DaveD Posted August 17, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2020 I always wondered why a defroster option wasn't included when the boat manufacturers started adding heaters into the boats.
Baller_ MISkier Posted August 17, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted August 17, 2020 @DaveD, when I installed my heater in my Malibu LX, I bought a Y splitter for the output hose and an extra louvered outlet. Then, I removed the cupholder to the right of the windshield door support and replaced it with the louvered outlet. I can direct heat there to the windshield in front of the helm. Didn't have to even cut anything to install it. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller BugHunter Posted August 17, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted August 17, 2020 As most of the fog builds on the outside of the windshield, I guess Rain-X makes the most sense. I will give it a try. The heater option would only make a difference on the inside of the windshield ?
Baller BugHunter Posted August 29, 2022 Author Baller Share Posted August 29, 2022 Nothing worked as far as products to put on the windscreen. It would fog up on the outside and on the inside. So I found this little tool that is designed to clean windows and it works perfectly;
Baller GaryJanzig Posted August 30, 2022 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2022 Rain-x on both sides does help. You will still need to wipe it off though.
Baller skimtb Posted August 30, 2022 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2022 I think factors heaters have defroster port. On Prostar it would be to the right of that glovebox in you pic.
Baller_ Rednucleus Posted August 30, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted August 30, 2022 @BugHunter more info please on that product, thanks!
Baller MichaelWiebe Posted August 31, 2022 Baller Share Posted August 31, 2022 The heater gets rid of the fogging on the inside and outside. We have two 2014+ ProStars in our Wisconsin ski group, and often use the heaters specifically for defogging the driver's windshield. We ski early mornings. Baller ReallyGottaSki Posted August 31, 2022 Baller Share Posted August 31, 2022 I can concur that the windshield is clear and stays so within the first 1/2 mile of running in the mornings, 530-6 am in my case old speaker holes were covered with 1/8" HDPE and 3" outlet installed, one of the heater outlets teed to the two dash outlets

Baller BugHunter Posted October 7, 2022 Author Baller Share Posted October 7, 2022 We now have a new boat with a heater and it indeed does solve the fogging problem. Thanks for the guidance.
