Baller ROBOT Posted February 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 12, 2020 ORLANDO, FL (February 12, 2020) — Watershed Innovation (a subsidiary of Correct Craft) is excited to announce its newest brand, Ingenity. Ingenity will debut its electric drive system powered by a unique battery at the 2020 Miami International Boat Show.Bill Yeargin, President and CEO of Correct Craft stated, “Ingenity will change the marine industry as we know it. At Correct Craft we believe the future will be very different than it is today and that’s why we started Watershed Innovation to take on projects like Ingenity. The Watershed Innovation team has done a phenomenal job creating a system that is clearly the future of our industry.”Watershed Innovation created Ingenity to bring a high-power electric drive to the most demanding watersports enthusiasts and inevitably to the marine industry. President of Watershed Innovation (Ingenity’s parent company), Sean Marrero said, “Electric is the propulsion of the future, but no battery in the world could meet the high-power requirements for a watersports boat, fit in the available space, and be used twice in the same day…so we designed our own.”With 124 kWh of stored energy, the Ingenity battery allows for 2 to 3 hours of typical watersports use and can be recharged in as little as 90 minutes. It has cells from top tier suppliers and the latest in cooling and safety technology. The battery management system is designed for thousands of cycles which equates to many years of use powering a boat.Marrero added, “Our new battery is the heart and soul of the Ingenity electric propulsion system and is the key to everything customers care about: safety, reliability, and the time to run and charge.”Ingenity today also launched its new website that highlights the performance and technology of its drive system and battery. The new site includes news, frequently asked questions and a contact page for businesses who would like to collaborate or partner with Ingenity. The Ingenity system is on display at the Miami International Boat Show in booth B101. Baller MattP Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 Ok this is cool. I wonder if they will have removable battery packs to swap out and charge. @The_MS have your friends at ZO made a version for a electric motor yet? Baller_ The_MS Posted February 13, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted February 13, 2020 @MattP the word I am getting from my guys at ZO is that they have a setting all dialed in and ready. They have been waiting for years for someone to come up with an elec boat so that they can apply the tech.
Baller ski6jones Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 Cool stuff. It always kills me when people claim "0% emissions" or similar. There are emissions, just not at the point of use.
Administrators Horton Posted February 13, 2020 Administrators Share Posted February 13, 2020 @ski6jones what are you talking about? electricity just comes out of the wires. there's no emissions. Baller VONMAN Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 How much $$$? How heavy, wake board boat only, where big wakes are wanted. We shall see what tomorrow will bring. Ernie Schlager
Administrators Horton Posted February 13, 2020 Administrators Share Posted February 13, 2020 In all seriousness a move towards electric vehicles and boats is pretty darn exciting. if you're burning coal to make electricity and then losing a large percent of the electricity in transmission then yeah maybe it's not that great but if you make that electricity locally from something like solar it's pretty amazing. The part that has a lot of people really fired up is the performance. Baller KRoundy Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 Cool. It really does NOT look removable at all. If I'm seeing those photos correctly the battery pack is roughly the size of a V8. Sounds about right for two hours of wakeboard run time. Wakeboard/surf is the logical place to start - since additional weight is always welcome in that sport. I wonder how much the battery weighs? I'm guessing 750 - 1,000 lbs, but would not be surprised if it was more.
Baller swb911 Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 The cool thing for ski boats is that the weight can be distributed where needed, and not just where the engine is. Boat builders could really tweek the wake more than ever. Also, with a possible swapping battery set up in the future with new battery tech we can just keep the boat charging at the dock, ready to go with a battery to spare when needed. Im excited for sure. Baller_ MISkier Posted February 13, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted February 13, 2020 In addition to the benefits of electric, I’m interested in the possible new interior layout options. No obtrusive engine box. Floor space for easy walking. Wraparound cockpit seating for cruising. Usable locker storage under the floor. Get the location and profile of the battery packs and motor right and you won’t even ask about an open bow again. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears. Baller RAWSki Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 What @MISkier said and the lack of engine noise should be really nice. Maybe not ideal for all day cruises on large lakes but on smaller lakes and private sites this could be ideal if the run-time projections are close to accurate. Surf boats turn about the same RPM's as a ski boat at 32-34 mph so it is promising.

Baller UWSkier Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 They've been testing that here in AZ a bit on a wake boat. Was out a few weeks ago per an Instagram post I saw.
Baller MickeyThompson Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 So we are going to give up our gas powdered boats that can go all day and use a new 150,000 dollar boat for 2 to 3 hours a day. No thanks.
Baller WBLskier Posted February 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2020 I gauge the success of a summer weekend by hours in the boat and how many gallons of gas I can burn in my now 22 year old boat that runs like a top on its all original engine. I like to see the innovation but like electric cars I won’t have one any time soon.

Baller ral Posted February 16, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 16, 2020 Zero emissions is correctly used for electric vehicles and here as well. Very different from “carbon neutral” operation. As an engineering mental exercise, an electric engine vehicle can be zero emission but not operate carbon-neutrally (e.g. using electricity from a coal power plant), and a bio-diesel engine vehicle might not be zero emission but operate carbon-neutrally. Baller_ Rednucleus Posted February 16, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted February 16, 2020 Maybe the battery could be mounted on an adjustable slide rail so it could be moved a bit forward or back to optimize the wake?
