Baller DavidN Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 Stumbled upon this eBay-ad. Would make for a decent project boat.
Baller Chef23 Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 How much would it cost to repower or just replace the block? That boat is only a couple of hours from me.
Baller DavidN Posted August 30, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 My guess is the total costs would be less than what a 2012 TXI usually goes for. Strangely that one comes without ZO. Who orders a TXI without that feature???
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted August 30, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted August 30, 2019 I looked at it pretty hard... still not a money maker for me. End of the day it is still a $20k boat with $25k into it.
Baller Andre Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 @DavidN I was also very surprised to see PP instead of ZO.You often see total boats for sale with a good engine.Shouldn't be too hard to find one. Add just mention Indmar .What was available in 2012? 5.7 and 6.0 ? Used Indmar 5.7 shouldn't be too hard and costly to find IMO...How much is a Jasper or Summit 5.7 shortblock? Could be a good deal for the right person. And swapping engines shouldn't be too complicated either... My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance! Baller_ DW Posted August 30, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted August 30, 2019 When you are pondering getting an over the counter short block, just remember there are several different parts between marine and automotive blocks - cam, core plugs, water pump, distributor, etc.
Baller Andre Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 @DW Jasper sells marine and car engines.Short and long blocks. I CBW but short block wouldn't be coming with any accessories like pumps,starter.alternator...You would have to reuse your old parts. @DavidN can't find the price list on Jasper site but it used to be there... My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller DavidN Posted August 30, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 @Andre The boat has neither PP, nor ZO. You can tell by the dash layout. I think the seller simply confused the Malibu cruise control that comes standard on these boats with PP.
Baller BraceMaker Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 @DavidN should be Zo capable
Baller DavidN Posted August 30, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 I know. It’s DBW.
Baller skimtb Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 Not diggin the trailer. No prop/rudder guard? Looks like it is from a tall sided outboard fishing boat or something.
Baller Keith_Menard Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 This thing has more red flags than a construction site.
Baller DavidN Posted August 30, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 I still think it’s a good deal. Comps I found ... One 2012 TXI on SIA for $45900 One 2013 TXI for $39850 And there’s a 2008 for $28500
Baller BraceMaker Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 @skimtb it does look that way - of course old ski boats never had prop guards either, my 94 is on a trailer with out one and I haven't grounded it yet. But I'd definitely fly and drive so I could check everything out.
Baller MichaelGoodman Posted August 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2019 I looked at that same boat 4 years ago before I bought my Prostar it was a POS then and I am sure much worse now. The seller never told me about the cracked block I had to point it out to him after driving 4 hours each way to see it.
