How to clean a life vest

I've had my vest for a little over a year, and it's starting to smell a bit. How should I go about cleaning it?

 

My first idea was to soak it in cool soapy water then let it air dry

That's how.

You can buy neoprene shampoo or use mild clothes soap.Let it soak but also wash by hand by rubbing soapy water around.

Woolite and a wash cloth Works we’ll hang in the shade to dry.

I have been washing speed skating skin suits, barefoot suits, hunting clothes, and waterski gear including boots in this stuff for years. NOTHING works better. Get it at Dicks sporting goods or any good hunting sports store

Every couple weeks I dunk my vest, gloves, rope and boots in my chlorine pool, keeps the stink from getting out of control. I don't think it would work as good in a salt water pool

Enzyme cleaner that comes in a spray bottle works well for this too. They sell it at the pet store for neutralizing animal urine.
