skinut
I have a 2012 200 and I want to upgrade to a single puck. I've check the ZO website but it's not clear what I need to order. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need? I do have the Ecom cable.
Baller Jody_Seal Posted April 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted April 3, 2019 https://www.zerogps.com/products/3-event-zero-off-antenna-with-harness.html An then someone with a Ecom cable that can install the update software.
skinut
Thanks Jody. Wow, $450 for a puck seems steep, especially considering a replacement puck is $250.
Baller jimski Posted April 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted April 3, 2019 Hey Try paying that in Canadian coin ?
Baller ski6jones Posted April 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted April 3, 2019 You'll also need to purchase the software update, $50.

jetpilotg4
@Jody_Seal Is the software serial number specific? Asking for a friend
Baller oldmanskier Posted June 5, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 5, 2019 We are considering doing a single puck conversion on our 2012 Mastercraft. We were considering getting a complete new Zero system due to ours has 1620 hours and is starting to do weird things not all the time but occasionally. Surging, not giving times, ETC. Tried remapping but issues still occur from time to time. Not for sure what kind of questions to ask Zero Off for getting a New Complete single puck system for our 2012 Mastercraft 5.7 ilmor engine club boat. Can anyone tell me what all information I need to give Zero Off for getting a new system? Thanks Oldmanskier
Baller Roger Posted June 10, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2019 @jimski - I can tell you it works fine on a 5.7 in a 200. @scoke has done this conversion and skis it all the time (and I drive it all the time).
Baller RAWSki Posted June 10, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2019 @oldmanskier why not start with the single puck+version upgrade for $500 and see if that works properly before thrashing the entire system?
Baller skierjp Posted June 11, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2019 @oldmanskier you may have a bad antenna. Your boat has 2 but the system only runs on 1 so you probably have 2 bad antennas.
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted June 11, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2019 @oldmanskier..... Run the Diagnostics page on your screen. It will tell you immediately what is currently wrong, and also a history of problems. If you don't know how, it is easy, and instructions are on the Zero Off Web-Site. Baller oldmanskier Posted June 11, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2019 Talked to Skip the other day and he explained how the two puck system works. We are going to give switching the pucks a try as he suggested. If that does not work Skip gave me some other options. Thanks to Skip and all who offered advise. Tom Smothers aka oldmanskier. WoodySkier
What is the main differences that would make this upgrade worthwhile?
Baller eleeski Posted June 28, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 28, 2019 OK, I got the adapter cable (but not the programming cable) and the single puck. Hooked it all up to my 11 MC. No GPS. I'm on rev R but I haven't done the rev S programming. I guess I must do the rev S to get the single puck to work. My Garmin 18x LVC, 5m replacement puck (not from ZO) didn't work. I'm down to one puck. I hope I get the rev S stuff before the last puck fails. Note the original puck has failed by giving widely variable inaccurate speeds. Doesn't throw error messages. The ride is unskiable on that puck. It's OK on just the one good one but it might feel different than before (it could be my imagination). Definitely doing the upgrade just to get back to the way it was. Eric
Baller Gloersen Posted June 28, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 28, 2019 @eleeski - the ECI puck does require its own new software upload (as you note) even with Rev R. fyi - the .mot file received will require the ECOM cable, the EControls software installation app, and the passkey encrypting to your specific head unit S/N. Prior upgrades with Diacom only permitted uploading encrypted .emot files.
Baller eleeski Posted June 28, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 28, 2019 @Gloersen Do I need WiFi at the boat when I'm programming or can I pre load my laptop at home? My lake is pretty remote with sketchy internet from the phone and my trailer situation does not encourage moving the boat. Also, I'm planning to upgrade two boats (the ZO American Skier as well). Does this create problems? Eric
Baller ski6jones Posted June 28, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 28, 2019 Internet not required to reflash software to head unit.
mmadore21
My ECOM cable won't connect. Grrrr. Everything set up correctly and new driver installed. Anyone? Passwords work...just won't connect.
Baller braindamage Posted September 29, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 29, 2020 @mmadore21 i remember having to update the firmware (or maybe it was the driver) on the cable itself. Is that what you mean by “driver”?
mmadore21
@braindamage I figured it out with the help of @Xpropman and I posted my solved issue in a related ZO Aquastar thread. In 2007 Nautique incorrectly wired the diagnostics port. There are 2 wires, the white and gray, that needed to be swapped. ZO had no idea...but Skip did and called me. Thanks again Skip!
