Marcsargis
Looking to buy on a lake in the Tampa/Sarasota area to ski and surf on. Being on a lake with direct access to the water rather than trailering is preferable. 200 acres or larger. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Baller Orlando76 Posted January 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2019 Ha, there are no lakes in Tampa/Sarasota area. In reality there’s a couple in north Tampa but it’s slim pickings.
Baller MDB1056 Posted January 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2019 @Orlando76 is right. Look hard but not aware of any . Let us know if any discoveries!
Baller ScottScott Posted January 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2019 Lake Tarpon is about all there is for lakes. Hillsborough River, and Manatee Rivers go pretty far inland. Can't say how far inland is navigable, and probably a lot of no wake areas.
Marcsargis
Thanks for the insight. How about further east towards Orlando. I’ve got family in the Sarasota area and would like to stay relatively close.
Baller ScottScott Posted January 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2019 There are a couple decent size lakes in the Lakeland area, then not much farther east is Winter Haven where there is a large chain.
Marcsargis
Thanks, I’ll check both of those areas out. Are the water temps in the winter season tolerable?
Baller skierjp Posted January 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2019 Winter Haven water is 68 today. Can’t ever remember it getting below 62.
Baller skierjp Posted January 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2019 @Marcsargis anything decent will be 500k and up to be on the water. Florida is experiencing a housing boom so prices are up.
Marcsargis
Anyone know a realtor familiar with the Lakeland/Winter Haven area who skis/surfs?

Baller Orlando76 Posted January 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2019 Shhh, guys do not mention Polk County lakes. It’s the last waterfront in Florida in my price range and traffic and people are tolerable. I mean Polk county is a cesspool. Hicks and meth and contaminated water, stay in Tampa. Marcsargis
Ok, Polk County it is. Suggestions?
Baller kc Posted January 28, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 28, 2019 @Marcsargis check out Floridalakefront.com. There are a number of skiable lakes in the Tampa area, not necessarily in Tampa proper. Mostly located in Odessa, Lutz, and Land o Lakes area. I skied on Lake Keystone, and a little on Lake Carolwood, while I was attending college in Tampa. Many, many years ago. Best of luck in your search!
