Rose33
Hi All, I am very new to the boating world and am looking for a surf boat. My decision was between the 2018 MLX, 2019 Nautique LS210 and 2019 XT 20. The Nautique and XT are very close in price, the BU comes in a little less expensive given that it is a leftover, however, there is not a certified Malibu dealer local to my area and service is a huge concern. I loved the Malibu look and design but given the fact that the is no certified Malibu service tech in my town I am leaning more toward a Mastercraft or Nautique. Can anyone offer any insight as to what is a better surf boat?
Baller bigskieridaho Posted December 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2018 Go for the Malibu or the Nautique. The XT is going to have the smallest wake. Considering the Malibu is year older I would have to say the Nautique. I personally like Malibu better, but having local support is a must. Baller theboardingschool Posted December 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2018 That XT is actually a good surf boat. And, has the most adjustability of any of the waves, not to mention if you want to ski behind it you still can. A Malibu with no service tech. I think you have your answer on that one. Baller skimtb Posted December 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2018 OP. I’m assuming you asked this question on the boat manufacturer forums as well as a wakesurf forum. If not, you Should do so. Most guys on this forum are aimed at the most minimal wake possible for skiing, which is a bit different than your goal. Other option would be to give up the silly surf boat idea and get into skiing! Then, there is plenty of info here.... Good luck.
Rose33
Thanks everyone. I tested the Malibu, so I think I just need to test out the Nautique and the MC. Hoping to get out on them both by the end of this weekend.
Baller jjackkrash Posted December 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2018 If you really want my opinion--a waterskier's opinion--get the one with no ballast and the smallest wake. Or, better yet, the one that is broken down most of the time and with no dealer support. In other words, the boat that promotes the least amount of surfing. Baller theboardingschool Posted December 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2018 @Rose33 feel free to message me directly with any questions, especially if you demo the XT20. I've spent a lot of time in that boat. Happy to help however I can.
Administrators Horton Posted December 11, 2018 Administrators Share Posted December 11, 2018 @Rose33 welcome to BallOfSpray. This form definitely has a waterskiing only bias but if you want good information about the surf boats @theboardingschool is a very good source.
