Baller PatM Posted October 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 18, 2018 The thread regarding the SN 200 coming back got me thinking. Which is dangerous. Does anyone here know what the test and its parameters are for a AWSA tow boat?
Baller MISkier Posted October 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 18, 2018 I can’t remember where I saw them, but they have been published before. The ones that immediately come to mind are the acceleration from 0 to 36 mph with a 180 pound drone. I believe the boat also had to weave around the slalom buoys and through the course in a certain amount of time. I’ll see if I can locate the document. Baller MISkier Posted October 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 18, 2018 See if this helps: https://www.usawaterski.org/pages/divisions/3event/AWSATowboatManual.pdf Quote The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller MISkier Posted October 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 18, 2018 In reading through the manual, I may have been thinking of the old Waterski Magazine boats tests with the drone and course maneuvering requirements. Baller aussiemc Posted October 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2018 @MISkier you are correct, A drone is used to test acceleration, usually 2 runs from standstill, data recorded via GPS. Maneuverability test, End course review with several drivers, Decibel readings from bank, skier feel and wake feedback (confidential, and done privately) from test subjects. I only know this because i was lucky enough to be involved in the inaugural Boat test of 2019 Ski Nautique.
John Brooks
I believe they were conducting this years boat test this week, although I do not know any particulars, hopefully we will see some results soon.
Baller PatM Posted October 19, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted October 19, 2018 It would be interesting to see results for each boat, but from @aussiemc comment it sounds like they keep all that info confidential.
Baller Drago Posted October 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2018 It's a standards test, not a competition
Baller skierjp Posted October 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2018 Go to USAWATERSKI and look on the right side and click on Tow Boats and Speed Control, then scroll down and click on Towboat Policy Manual
