Baller Stevie Boy Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 I am curious as to how far down the line the 2018 Lithium Senate could go, at 32mph or 34mph looking for a realistic point of view. Anybody have any experience or thoughts on this ?
Baller Chef23 Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 At 32 or 34 I am sure a good skier could run 38 on it and probable deeper. We had a Boys 3 skier a number of years ago running 32 off at 36 mph on a Senate before he got a new stick.
Baller tjm Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @Stevie Boy if you are looking for one I am getting ready to put a hardly used 65 inch 2018 lithium senate on ski it again. Maybe a half dozen sets on it. $625. Private message me if interested.
Baller Fam-man Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @Chef23 did he see a rapid increase in buoys after adjusting to the new ski? I'm assuming the change was to a Vapor like course ski.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted July 11, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @tjm 65 would be too small, I am currently on 67 Pro Build which I enjoy, I have not made my mind up whether to ski 34 or 32 as I am getting near that age, trying to get weight off, but was wondering if the Senate would make life a little bit easier if I went 32 mph. Baller tjm Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @ Stevie Boy. Understood. Thank you. FYI. I’m 65 yrs. old, coming off severe shoulder injury, surgery, stem cell injections and 6 months of physical therapy this past off season, I had the same intent as you regarding less strain when I purchased it. Skied it for three weeks and then purchased a 66” 2018 vapor lithium. I like the Vapor. Thus getting ready to sell Senate. My experience says stay with the Vapor. Baller ALPJr Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 When I was demoing skis a couple years ago Radar had published the surface area of their skis. At that time the 68 Vapor had slightly smaller surface than the 67 Senate. I figured the 68 was a better choice. I ended up with another brand's 68 (with Vapor boots) and have also started skiing at 32mph. Hey it's fun being able to shorten the rope and not having quite as much wear and tear on the body. Baller Chef23 Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @Fam-man it is hard to say with this kid. He was on a rapid improvement curve at the time. He definitely picked up a couple of buoys but given his rate of improvement it would be tough to say he wouldn't have picked them up anyway. I think he went to a Vapor at the time but I don't remember exactly he might have gone HO.
Baller Fam-man Posted July 11, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @Stevie Boy I was similarly wondering the difference between ski's however the transition I was considering was FROM 2016 Senate (carbon) To Vapor. Found a used 2017 Probuild Vapor so decided to give it a try. I find the Vapor to be faster which means I can ski my same pass with less effort. I find the Vapor turns quicker. There could be potential to tune the Senate to turn the same, I'm running both at stock settings I find the Vapor cuts through the wake smoother than the Senate. This could also be form improvement so is hard to quantify. I found the Vapor highlighted my technical weaknesses especially being on the back of the ski for offside turn. Less technically forgiving then the Senate. Have never been on a Lithium senate Those are the biggest differences I noticed. Both ski's are 67" and I'm 180lbs skiing though 22off at 32mph. This is only my 3rd season in the course so mostly focused on form. Going one size up on the Vapor might be a good solution for you.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted July 11, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted July 11, 2018 @Fam-man thanks for your input, but a 68 inch ski is just not going to happen, my best skiing was on a 66 ski even tho I was heavy for it, what ever I ski on is going to be 67 I can turn pretty good on a 67, I think a 68 is not going to turn that well for me, I personally think that height as well as weight should be taken into consideration when buying a ski. I am 5ft 6" so for me nothing bigger than 67"
Administrators Horton Posted July 11, 2018 Administrators Share Posted July 11, 2018 I can destroy 35 off at 34 miles an hour on that ski. I think at 38 The Vapor would be more appropriate. Lobonator
I was told at Radar Nation Day last week that JMac ran 39 on the 2018 Senate Lithium.
Baller MuskokaKy Posted July 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 13, 2018 @Lobonator I didn’t see jay run it last week ( had to leave after lunch ish) but I did hear talk on the dock he did run 39 on the senate lithium. I took it for a test spin last week at radar tour and it was amazing!!!! The fact it looks awesome is just a bonus
Lobonator
@MuskokaKy I didn't see him ski either, but heard from multiple people on the dock. I was very ready to buy the lithium senate that day, but made the mistake of trying the vapor... the difference was night and day even when skiing at 30mph. Baller 34mph Posted July 17, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 17, 2018 @Lobonstor Is that the vapor or pro build
Baller Chef23 Posted July 17, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 17, 2018 @Stevie Boy at 5'6" depending on weight the 65" Senate might work for you. According to the Radar site the 65" will support up to 170 pounds.
Lobonator
@34mph it was the pro build. But was told that the 2018 lithium vapor will still feel very close to the pro build in the turn. Just not quite as quick accelerating cross course.
