What’s in your wallet?

This question is addressed to safety directors and lake owners, and the real question is “What’s in your first aid kit?” What is necessary, what is a good idea and what are the luxuries?

That's a good list @Kelvin has. I agree with adding Quickclot and would add a tourniquet like this since it cost almost nothing and saves lives.

Inflatable splints are a good buy. Makes the ride to the hospital tolerable

These are some good suggestions. I am going to double check our inventory. One thing we do have in our kits in Michigan is an AED.

Lots of great skiing at LaPoint Ski Park’s April Record. Best part of the day, though, was Ty Oppenlander taking a ski ride. Absolutely awesome!

Any precautions you should take before using an AED near water or on a wet person ?

 

Sidenote:Pulling an inconscious skier back in the boat by yourself must not be an easy task if no spotter...

You can't use the AED while the person is still in the water. As with any AED use, the responders and person administering the AED must be clear of the patient while the shock is delivered. That includes making sure you are not standing in a puddle of water which is also touching the patient. There is no problem for the patient themselves to be wet, but the bystanders must not be positioned in any manner that provides conductivity to the patient.
