Baller dchristman Posted April 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2018 Anyone have tips on how to deal with this? It's falling off in chunks and crumbling into the bilge.
Baller Kelvin Posted April 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2018 I recently used a shop-vac to completely remove the foam. Now I'm looking for something to put back in its place. Any thoughts?

Baller skihart Posted April 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2018 I did the motor box on my 2004 MCtt a few years ago with this. Or one of these anyhow from McMaster Carr. Self adhesive and worked well. Sold the boat soon after but it seemed perfect and much quieter. https://www.mcmaster.com/#sound-control-insulation/=1ca3toc
Baller Andre Posted April 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2018 Good thread about it on MC team talk. My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller BraceMaker Posted April 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2018 Wire cup wheel on an angle grinder will get it all off really fast if it is flaky, but youll need two people to haul the motor box lid off the boat.
Baller braindamage Posted April 6, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2018 From Themalibucrew http://www.themalibucrew.com/index.php?/articles.html/motorbox-insulation-r4/ One of the best mods I’ve done to mine.

Baller Bdecker Posted October 23, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2021 Old thread I know, but my patch job on our 2016 CarbonPro didn’t hold up this season. Just winterized the boat and I’m looking to get the “doghouse” back in shape. I bought a kit last year from discount inboard marine and it really didn’t last (probably installation error…). Is there a secret to the surface prep that I missed?
Baller Zman Posted October 23, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2021 I removed the foam under my box this summer. There was no noticeable change in noise. So I left the inside of the box clean and bare. Keep in mind that most (all?) engine boxes today have thicker and denser foam under the vinyl on the outside of the box. If I felt I had to do something, I would use the type of carpet my 2007 Malibu RLxi had from the factory. Light density foam is never going to hold up. Don't waste your time installing that.
