Baller Ski_Dad Posted October 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 Hi Guys, using a 69" P-6. I'm 6' and 210. I'm considering picking up a 2015 or 2017 senate alloy over the winter. I was also tossing around the idea of a 69" Theory if i could find one. The senate seem a lot skinnier than my P-6, so would you think 69" or 71" senate for freeskiing at 30 mph ? Baller slvrbulit Posted October 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 I went from a 67'' P6 to a 69" Senate alloy a few years ago. I definitely wouldn't go any bigger then a 69" ski. You will love the senate!! If your looking for a used ski let me know I might be selling mine.
Baller Chef23 Posted October 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 At 210 a 69" Senate should be plenty of ski.
mikegile
+1 for 69 as 71 is too big. You will love it!
Baller Bill22 Posted October 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 +1 for the 2017 model it's worth the extra $ vs the '15.
Members Skirvind
The senate is designed to run 34 mph, your running at 30 so to get similar performance you need to up size (it's a given). At 30 your two steps down in speed so if you size down two steps its borderline and could lean to the 71. If you can try both 69/71 you should. I think what you will find is that one will be more physical work and the other will feel like your lighter on the water . I ski the 2017, 71 @ 34 and it works very well even when skiing short line. My wife skis at 28 mph on my 2015 71 senate and she is lighter then you and it turns well for her and she likes not being as completely worn out as she was on her 68 senate which ran deeper in the water at that speed. I took a while to get her to try it, she was sold on the first ride. Bottom line either will work ,try both if you can. But, if you plan to ski 34 go with 69. I personally prefer the 2017 model over the 2015.

Baller Ski_Dad Posted October 2, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 so are the 2017 alloy Senate's red on the bottom or is that orange ? It's always hard to tell with stock photos. I really like the color scheme on the graphite better but I don't think I want a stiff ski for my lakes.
Baller TallSkinnyGuy Posted October 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 Looks red to me, but I haven't seen it in person. Personally, I think the 2017 Senate graphics are some of the best I've ever seen on any skis and I much prefer them over the 2018 graphics. The Graphite version still has the damper PU core (as opposed to the Lithium version with the PVC core that will feel a little more pingy in choppy water). The Alloy and Graphite versions in 2017 are both 100% carbon fiber reinforcement, so the two may not feel as different as those versions in past years where the Alloy had 50/50 carbon/glass. Also, you get the adjustable fin with the Graphite version in 2017 (vs. mostly fixed fin with the Alloy) -- this may or may not be important to you. I just ordered the Graphite version from The Liquid Edge in Illinois (overstockskis.com), but I think both PerfSki.com and the site I ordered from have 69" skis available for both the Alloy and Graphite versions. dhofert
I do not have a bottom picture but it is orange on the bottom. You can see some on the edges in this picture.
Baller TallSkinnyGuy Posted October 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2017 The Alloy really does look red in all the production pictures published on Internet sites, but the 2017 Radar Senate video clearly shows it as orange, just like in the pic above. Great looking ski.

Baller scorban2 Posted October 4, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 4, 2017 I'm 6' and 215 and ski on a 69" 2015 senate alloy. I free ski a lot at 30 and 32, and really like the ski. When getting coaching on the course, I've slowed down to 28, and still really like it. If you're heavy on your back foot at 28-30, it will sink a bit, but if you stay in good position, it turns great.
Baller wolfgang Posted October 4, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 4, 2017 I'm 6 foot and 195 and ski on a 67 " 2017 senate graphite vector bindings. It's the best ski I've ever had. Free ski at 34 mph. Course up to 32. It improved my skiing, two PB this august. No more sore knees from hard shell . Easy to get up on. Agonized between 67 & 69 inches as I'm at the top of the weight range for the 67 but I have zero regrets.
