Best time to buy

As my last thread suggested, I'm in the market for a new stick. I'm good with either a 2016 or newer Radar Graphite Senate or a 2017 Connelly Carbon V. Both are listed as "on sale" at online shops and I'm noticing they are showing as sold out in the more common sizes.

When is the best time of the year to buy a ski? Do the 2017s start to sell out around now or can we do better around the holidays? Thanks everyone.

@vtmecheng for what its worth im in a similar boat where i want to upgrade from my 2016 senate to the 17...sale prices have started everywhere ive seen as the 2018s are out and being used...Ill pull the trigger by halloween ( at the latest thanksgiving). I can usually find a 67 fairly easily...Review on the the 17 senate was pretty awesome and i demo's one which felt great ( especially for not having my binding set up.)

Too bad I'm the one usually in trouble. Lucky for me I got injured (funny to type) with an OTF on my current ski and my wife agrees I should get something more stable and predictable. It'll be my Christmas present.

I'm thinking of getting the ski now since the 2018s are out and 2017s are already on clearance.

I'd also like to bring up the monkey theory...@razorskier1 and @razorross3 told me about this; a monkey never releases the branch it's holding until it has the next branch in hand.

The idea is when you are skiing well on a particular ski, and get a new one wanting more buoys...and it seems like a winner right away...don't sell your existing ski just yet. After a while you may be saying geez I was really hot on my old ski and I let it go...wish I had that one back.

I totally agree with @6balls. A few years ago I traded a Goode Mid I set a PB on for a Nano 1 which I never got comfortable on. After trying several different skis I wound up buying another Goode Mid and was happy again.

Thanks for the advice. I'm on a 2010 siege right now and doubt I'm going to find myself wishing for it in the course. Probably just keep it at my dad's lake house so I don't have to travel with my new one. We just free ski there anyway.

Regarding the otf I had. Most of the injury was due to me stupidly having the front binding too tight. My foot couldn't get out. Never make that mistake again.
