Administrators Horton Posted September 13, 2017 Administrators Share Posted September 13, 2017 The Senate’s ability to carry speed is unmatched in the industry. This speed allows the skier to maintain width on the boat ultimately giving a sense of freedom sought after by those that ski in the course as well as those ripping open water turns. By taking our competition shape and adding two tenths of an inch in extra width we have created a stable riding platform. This platform creates the balance needed for a skier to feel at home, while the profile of the ski allows the skier to feel the speed and angle sought after at any level. Go for a spin on the Senate and you’ll leave with a smile on your face and a new ski under your arm. Baller Dacon62 Posted September 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2017 Love my 2017 Lithium Senate think the 2018 is same shape. Never dumps me if I get forward and still turns well if I get a bit far back. Keeps moving doesn't stall. Made a pile of 15' and a handful of 22' passes this year. Very Happy! Baller 34mph Posted September 14, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2017 If any one is looking to sell a 17 67" to get the new one please PM me thanks !
Baller TallSkinnyGuy Posted September 14, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2017 Like 34mph, I would be interested in a used 2017 67" Senate -- probably Graphite but maybe Lithium if price worked for me. I know it is personal taste, but I think the '17 graphics on the Senates are the best ever. I've been trying to figure out how to justify to my wife a purchase of a new one. "But it is such a beautiful ski" is not going to cut it for her.
Baller SkiJay Posted September 14, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2017 FWIW @34mph & @TallSkinnyGuy, I spent some meaningful time skiing on the different versions of the Vapor. And I can confidently say that if price or availability is an issue, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Graphite or Alloy new. The prices are dramatically lower, but the performance is not. Yes the top model feels a shade more vibrant and has a weight advantage, and very likely a psychological advantage. And granted, I'm a tester and not a tournament specialist so I don't make a habit of pushing deep into the danger zone. But my ball count into mid 35s went unchanged through the full Vapor line, top to bottom. A great shape is a great shape.
Baller TallSkinnyGuy Posted September 15, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2017 Thanks SkiJay. That is really useful information. I've been wanting to hear a comparison of the different versions of the same shape.
Baller vtmecheng Posted April 7, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 7, 2018 Having seen both the 2017 and 2018 up close, I know there were a few changes to the design. Any chance you will get a 2018 to try out? It doesn't make much of a difference to me since I already have one but it will be interesting to hear if the changes really did make improvements. Baller Dacon62 Posted April 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2018 @vtmecheng maybe @brooks can clarify? I was under the impression that the 17 and 18 Senate were the same/similar bottom with new graphics?!
Baller brooks Posted April 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2018 @Dacon62 you have it right, the 17 to 18 is just a cosmetic change. Thanks
Baller RAWSki Posted April 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2018 Reading the 2018 Senate write up it sounds very much like the Lyric. They added the same width to both skis. Hmm same mold and just a different internal build for the ladies vs .mens model? Or maybe their press writer just did some "copy + pasting" ? Baller vtmecheng Posted April 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2018 For some reason I thought the 17 didn't have the "ledge" feature that the 18 does. Just me misremembering. Ah well, I know some like the 17 graphics more but I'm partial to the 18 graphics. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Baller brooks Posted April 9, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 9, 2018 @RAWSki The Lyric and Senate are the same shape and come out of the same mold, they just have different guts on the inside.
Baller C5Quest Posted April 17, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 17, 2018 I will most likely be selling my 2017 Senate Lithium in couple weeks after I head back down to Florida to pick it up. Good shape. Normal usage and some scratches on top surface from binding changes and adjustments. Used reflex bindings which are now on my primary ski. Also updated the entire fin block to the one used on 2018 senates and vapors. Will post more info when I pick up the ski and return to the great white north in week or so

csutter12
If you are a female and been skiing on a 5 year old Senate would you switch to a lyric or go with the alloy?
Baller dvskier Posted June 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 19, 2018 Lyric would work best for you.
Baller BRY Posted June 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 19, 2018 @csutter12 My wife was on an older Lyric, she really liked it. With the change in 17 to the 16 Vapor profile I thought she should try the new one. I thought the 16 Vapor was significantly better than previous. She tried the new Lyric and then had a chance to try the new Lithium Senate. That was an expensive demo. The new Lyric was nicer but not dramatic but the smiles from the Lithium Senate couldn't be denied. She's a -15 skier. Used to be 24-28 for years now she's 28-32mph and a lot more confidence. The new ski gets her out of things that would have had her swimming on the old one plus much more confidence. Can't go wrong with the Lyric but the Senate is better for her. You seem to keep skis a while, like my wife. Don't be afraid to move up the line on these skis if you want to, the Senate won't bite.
