Baller tlarocque Posted August 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted August 22, 2017 VERY late in the game here but my Sprinter van conversion is going to be done ahead of schedule so toying with the idea of a road trip over Labor Day weekend. I'd love to tow my ski boat somewhere fun to hang for the weekend with my family and maybe do a little boating and skiing. Anybody have any ideas? I don't know much about the lakes up in the central valley.
Baller LoopSki Posted August 23, 2017 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2017 Not sure what you mean by dry camp waterski site. Are you looking for a ski lake to camp out at and run the course ? Or a public lake ? The delta , not near so cal though , may suit you. It will be a zoo on Labor Day !
Baller ntx Posted August 23, 2017 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2017 My guess is that it is a typo. Maybe Day Camp?????
Baller bigskieridaho Posted August 23, 2017 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2017 @Horton will probably have some insight on this for you.
Elite Skier ColeGiacopuzzi Posted August 23, 2017 Elite Skier Share Posted August 23, 2017 @tlarocque I'd recommend Castaic, Silverwood, and Big bear even though its a bit of a haul. Lake Piru is a really good choice to just limited camping. Radar Skis Follow Instagram
Joeprunc
Nacimiento and San Antonio are lakes I'd prefer to go to above the other Southern Cal ones if spending a weekend. However, I would agree with @LoopSki , any lake is going to be a zoo on Labor Day. There are some nice lakes in N and C California. I went house boating this year at Shasta, and will definitely be going back up there to camp off the McCloud arm for a fraction of the cost. Baller tlarocque Posted August 23, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted August 23, 2017 Thanks all for the suggestions. By dry camp, I mean I don't own an RV so need a campsite with bathrooms and showers. But probably not a good weekend to be on public lakes and most of the campsites I looked into are booked up. Maybe I need to look into a membership on a private ski lake. For this Labor Day, I think I'll just be at the beach instead.
shansen345
@tlarocque Camp somewhere in San Diego and ski the course in San Vicente Lake!
Baller tlarocque Posted August 24, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted August 24, 2017 @shansen345 - yeah, I think that's the most likely lake option. Camp (at my house) and drive to the reservoir in the morning. I think I was just hoping to get away a bit more. San Vicente is about 30 miles from me. Thanks! Baller bikesrus Posted August 24, 2017 Baller Share Posted August 24, 2017 @shansen345 is the course in San Vicente Lake open to the public?
Baller tlarocque Posted August 24, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted August 24, 2017 @bikesrus - I just spoke to the Recreational Office at San Vicente and she said, yes, the course is open.
