Baller Ralph Lee Posted April 26, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 26, 2017 Last year I bought a ski too small for weight loss motivation, it ended up working. So many obvious advantages, I'm anxious to try out ZO for the first time again.
Baller Ralph Lee Posted April 26, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 26, 2017 If I sucked at it before, will I suck just as much minus 40 lbs?
Baller Andre Posted April 26, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 26, 2017 Congrats on the weight loss! My guess: you ll gain a bouy for every 10 lbs you lost! My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller bigskieridaho Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 I am right there with you @Ralph Lee I lost weight, bought a new ski, and now have a boat with ZO of my own to ski behind. Guess we can learn together!
Baller RazorRoss3 Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 If you are 40lbs lighter ZO will like you more, you will be exceptionally faster, more energy for more passes, and I would agree that you will pick up several buoys. I can feel a considerable difference between my lifting weight and ski weight which are only 10lbs apart so 40 will feel great I'm sure.
Baller Roger Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 Weight loss is certainly helpful with ZO. The magic number seems to be around 170lbs as I seldom hear complaints about the pull from skier at or under that weight. I'm 185 and it was very difficult for me to compete while still owning a Perfect Pass boat. Eventually, I bought a ZO equipped boat and have come to terms with the ZO system. Baller jcamp Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 Congrats on the weight loss. Regardless of the speed control system you use, having 40 less pounds to drag around (even more weight when g-forces are accounted for) should drastically improve your skiing. Have a great summer. Baller Drago Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 @Roger , while lighter may help with zo, switching between pp and zo is never optimum. I suggest 185 is just fine and training behind zo is what helped you ski better with zo
Baller jjackkrash Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 I'd bet good money you pick up a full pass quickly. My "fighting weight" is 200ish and anything after 220 I start having a hard time even getting out of the water. Great work on the weight loss. Baller Ralph Lee Posted April 27, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 Recovering from a work related back injury, I put on 50 pounds and moved to ZO. I'm hoping feel free of the boat again like the good old days!
Baller Roger Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 @Drago - Certainly skiing behind it all the time has helped me to be a better skier. However, when ZO came out and we all had PP boats, the 170 and under crowd skied about the same buoy count in tournaments while those of us over that mark seemed to lose buoys. I'm a better skier in terms of style I think, but buoy count... PP tournament best, 2@38, ZO tournament best 2@38.
Baller gmut Posted April 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 @Ralph Lee what did you do to lose forty pounds?
Baller Ralph Lee Posted April 27, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 27, 2017 @gmut 100% eating light and healthy. Thankfully my wife figured out a way to make the healthy crap taste great!! I've always exercised year round, so that remained the same
