Baller Keith_Menard Posted April 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 22, 2017 Just tuned up the Gekko, put a new battery in, and I noticed that even with the new battery, when I turn on the blower, the lights, or the heater fan, perfect pass resets itself. Not especially looking forward to this project!
Baller oldjeep Posted April 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 22, 2017 Wow, I'd want to have some words with whatever kid wired that mess. Although with perfect pass it is almost always a ground issue if it is resetting, so check that first. Maybe start with that loose black ring terminal. Baller Keith_Menard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 23, 2017 The best I can tell is the ground and the other wires are from the old speedo...which DIDN'T have the temp sensor in it (I don't know why, but I really wanted the water temp sensor in my perfect pass, (also not going to pay $150 just to get it))
Baller MNshortliner Posted April 23, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 23, 2017 Try moving the power wire more up stream than what everything is powered with. Electronics can be very sensitive and taking the draw away from the computer box for the inrush of current for other accessories messes with the feed power. I would find your power bar/breakers and take a wire directly from that with an inline fuse if it's not protected to your perfect pass. That's what I had to do. Baller Keith_Menard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 23, 2017 I don't know why, but I can't seem to find the ground bus
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted April 23, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted April 23, 2017 Your best bet is to run a new wire straight from the pp ground to the negative terminal on the battery If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller Keith_Menard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 23, 2017 I moved the power 'up stream' to the ignition, and the ground to one of the switches...seems to work perfectly now! Next up...putting on the right prop (and changing the heater switch that I broke cleaning up the wiring) Thanks all!
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted April 24, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted April 24, 2017 A dedicated power source and ground will make your PP function best
Baller_ DW Posted April 25, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted April 25, 2017 @"Keith Menard" : Do you have a paddlewheel? If yes, and it is an AirMar ST300 which is the standard sensor used by PP, it does temperature and speed. If you have a dual line display, there is a screen that will give you temperature from that sensor.
Baller Keith_Menard Posted April 25, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 25, 2017 That is the issue...it is only a 3 wire paddlewheel...so it doesn't have the temp sensor.
