Baller thager Posted March 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 17, 2017 Flew some basketball teams in for the NC2A playoffs early this week and couldn't help but notice a few really nice private ski lakes on approach to runway 16R from the north. Just curious what lakes these were?
SKILIQUIDZONE
Liquid Zone is North and East Of Sac International. It Runs East West and is the only lake north of Sac with a Jump (Currently on the shore for maintenance www.skiliquidzone.com
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted March 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 17, 2017 @thager there are a lot of lakes you can see in the greater Sacramento area. As mentioned above, Liquid Zone. Also: Pleasant Oak, Redwood Shores and Liberty that have tournaments. There are also a few that are just privately owned for their use only. Baller Mateo_Vargas Posted March 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 17, 2017 A word of caution when flying over these lakes. Watch out for annoying helicopters.
Members musclefixer
all the lakes in sac are wonderful sites and all east of I5, the famous Bell Aqua Lakes 1,2&3 are usually visible as well depending on the approach. from the south you could have seen Shortline Lake as well
Baller david_ski Posted March 19, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 19, 2017 if you were on the left side of the plane you would of seen Pleasant Oaks. On the right it would be Liquid Zone and Redwood Shores. We watch the planes approach almost every time we are skiing.
Baller thager Posted March 19, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted March 19, 2017 @david_ski I was looking out the front of the plane joining the ILS 16R. Was surprised at the number of ski lakes that I saw. Made me smile!
Baller bishop8950 Posted March 20, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 20, 2017 There is a healthy population of lakes around Sacramento. I have lived in San Jose for 10 years and still not skied em all. Great group of people loaded with high quality officials and great events. You may not like the politics and water issues but the people and sites are great and I am glad I am here. Baller jimbrake Posted March 20, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 20, 2017 It's "Pleasant Oak" not "Oaks". Only one of the oaks there is pleasant. The others not so much.
Baller TallSkinnyGuy Posted March 20, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 20, 2017 I haven't yet figured out which of the oaks on the property is considered the pleasant one, but if @david_ski invites me back to ski with him again this season I will try to figure it out. :)
Baller LoopSki Posted March 20, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 20, 2017 Our site would have been on your right about 20 miles north of 16L
