Baller JonB Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 1939 - 55' Thunderbird - John Hacker Design - Twin V-12's - 550 hp each. Begs the question......what is the biggest boat you have ever skied behind?? (35' houseboat for me - wakes were waist high, 100' behind the boat)
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted January 25, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted January 25, 2017 Cool!! As a kid hanging around on Flathead lake there was an old guy that had a big Stan Craft with a HEMI and he used to give us ski rides around Woods bay on Flathead lake.. We were just happy as can be just to get a ski ride back then..
mikegile
Nice! I grew up skiing behind a 1965 Century. Wakes were not quite as big as that bad boy, but they got your attention!
Baller mlange Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 1965 Chris Craft SuperSport. My family still has that boat today. Such a cool boat to own, but awful to get a pull from.
Baller mwetskier Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 second for the 65 century resorter. had a marinized rambler engine.
Baller Nando Posted January 26, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2017 That is one of the coolest boats I've ever seen! Of course the wake would suck, but who could pass up the chance to ski behind it? One of the few boats that driving would appeal to me more than skiing behind it, though. That is awesome! Baller ski6jones Posted January 26, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2017 I have no idea how you could see to drive if the picture is accurate. Cool looking boat though.

Baller_ lpskier Posted January 26, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted January 26, 2017 I tricked behind a 50' cruise boat at my bachelor party (the party started with a cocktail cruise). It sucked. The skiing, not the party. Actually, the party was pretty out of control... Lpskier
Baller_ Wish Posted January 27, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted January 27, 2017 Imagine skiing behind this.... Frothy between wakes?
Baller GregHind Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 Biggest boat I have ever skied behind was 5 years ago today exactly. 3100hp. 154 skiers from a deep start. Lost 9 mostly due the domino effect.
Baller Shortenit Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 I skied behind my 41' offshore back in the day. On the Hudson River no less. Went under the George Washington, Tappan Zee, and Bear Mountain bridges. (But not continuously). Wake crossings weren't as bad as you'd think, but the wakes from passing ships were another thing entirely.......
Baller Hockdog Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 15' 1958 Chris Craft Cavalier and then a 1964 Chris Craft Super Sport, still in the family.
Baller socalskier Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 The original boat in this thread, the thunderbird, still is alive and well on Lake Tahoe. Google it, it has quite a history. It is rentable, but pricey!

Baller_ MISkier Posted January 28, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted January 28, 2017 On a episode of Mythbusters, they had one of the team ride a wakeboard (I know, not skiing) behind a cruise ship. They got them up with another boat, caught up to the cruise ship, and grabbed the rope from the ship to switch. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
