Baller bigskieridaho Posted January 24, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 24, 2017 I am currently looking at a boat at a dealership that came out of Crystal Point and would like to find out a little history on it. Anyone?

Baller bigskieridaho Posted January 25, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 @swc5150 Possibly, just trying to talk to the guy or find out who owned it last in Crystal Point. Got about 60 pics of it so should be good. The dealership is in or around Gilbert though.....
Baller swc5150 Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 @bigskieridaho Is it the tan TXi in Gilbert? The only thing I'd be cautious of, is whether or not it was ever run in Firebird Lake, which is salt water (very salty water). If I remember correctly, the tan one is on a fresh water lake though. Baller LoopSki Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 Why is firebird salt ?

Baller swc5150 Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 I don't know why Firebird is salt water? I've heard it's due to a salt deposit where the water feeds the lake. All I know is it's really salty, and I wouldn't want a boat that was primarily used there.
Elite Skier ColeGiacopuzzi Posted January 25, 2017 Elite Skier Share Posted January 25, 2017 Firebird is extremely alkaline because of the soil, I skied there a couple of times 4 or 5 years ago your eyes will burn the first time if your not used to it haha. It's a tough spot to ski, but a slow destruction for a boat... Radar Skis Follow Instagram
Baller bigskieridaho Posted January 25, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 Thanks for the insight guys. Boat has only been ran in Crystal and fresh water. In fact in the process of being a Malibu owner as we speak!

Baller swc5150 Posted January 25, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 25, 2017 Just an irrelevant Firebird note, a fall I had there felt like skidding across a beat up concrete road. Not a fan of heavy salt

Baller Golfguy Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 Fire Bird is more salty than other lakes in AZ because when built the bottom was sealed with concrete, thus no leakage. When the water evaporates as pure H2O the salt and other minerals are left behind. In time, much like a salt pond, the levels of sodium increase. All boats used there have access to a fresh water flush after use. Also all skies and equipment are routinely rinsed.
Baller DmaxJC_ski Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 I've skied firebird it's nasty, skis super fast, but when your from Alberta, any open water is good water. And @Golfguy is correct, it has a liner in it. You can smell the nitro and oil boiling out as you ski from the drag boats that race there. Multiple world record speeds have been set on that lake. Baller SundevilSki Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 Our team currently skis at Firebird. Really nasty water that destroys anything you put in it.
Baller Edbrazil Posted January 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2017 We went Tour-ing at Crystal Point back in 1993 and 1994, before the buildout on one side of the lake. Nice site for slalom. Tight for jumping around the 600 buoy. We also went to Firebird, in 1985. Surprisingly good SL scores with the backwash from a concrete wall. Baller LoopSki Posted January 30, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 30, 2017 Why is is salty though. I read somewhere that they add salt to it on purpose ? Why
Baller skibug Posted January 30, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 30, 2017 I think the main water supply for the area is the Salt River. I have skied at Crystal Estates; it is definitely brackish, you can definitely smell, taste, and feel the salt when you are not accustom to it.
