Baller Gar Posted January 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 21, 2017 Change it when it starts to change color! Roughly that's about 60 to 75 hrs or so. Usage/temp and other factors can come into play.
Baller wtrskior Posted January 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 21, 2017 @gar the oil changes color much quicker than that imo. For the modern engines and synthetic oil you can go much longer between changes. 75hrs or twice a season is probably a good gauge. I always liked to put my boat away with fresh oil and I only put 50hrs a year on it. So it gets the oil change close to bed time and again earlier in the next season. Cars can go easily 7500mi these days between changes. I check my oil regularly and it is still nice and golden at that milage.
Baller ntx Posted January 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 21, 2017 Keep in mind that most car engines don't see the higher rpm that marine engines are subjected to. That can decrease oil life. 70mph in my trucks turns less than 2,000 rpm
