My ski partner has that handle and he loves it. I've tried it and hated it. It all comes down to how you grip your handle. When I ski I have one of my thumbs on top of the handle cap. With the Masterline Radius Ergo handle my grip would sometimes slide too far up the handle for my comfort. Nothing wrong with the handle - it just didn't suit my style.

As @gregy mentioned when you last asked ... the Masterline doesn't have the flotation of the US Gear handles. To make it more clear, they sink. Last summer at a tournament they threw my handle from the boat and didn't reach the dock. It started going down fast... my buddy Mason jumped in to rescue it without thinking about the phone in his pocket. I thank him for his sacrifice :)

If anyone cares MasterLine and InTow support BallOfSpray. US Gear thoroughly burned a bridge with me and many Ballers a few years ago. I wish Randy well but i can not recommend doing business with him.

@gregy it would be nice to add some flotation. I was thinking of taking a couple of thin foam floats off an old trick harness, slicing them lengthwise, and then gluing them back together over the exposed rope in the 'Y'. I hate to make it more bulky though - it's already bigger and heavier than a 12" US Gear. The only time it's an issue is during handle swapping at a tournament...

MasterLine quality is second to none. I have one of the early prototypes of the ergo handle. I need to get my hands on the finished product.

I'm also vaguely aware of some of the R&D and custom stuff that happens at MasterLine. My impression is Russell really knows what he's doing and always working towards cutting edge product.

The only issue I have with the ML handle versus the US Gear Handle is that ML doesn't offer different diameters. I like a smaller diameter than ML offers so I am forced to go with US Gear. maybe ML will start to offer a few diameter choices.

Really liked my Ergo handle. I know it is just a feel difference, but I thought the Ergo stayed stickier all season vs. the USG. I don't ski that much, but when I do, there is a fair amount of resistance on the handle, so stickiness is important to me. Some guys are fine with handles that I think are dry or slippery, just my preference...

I've had mine for 12 months and really like it. Had a problem with the first one bending after one set, but they stood behind it and replaced it, albeit after a long wait. No probs since. I find the 13" too big and next time will get a 12. With the curved end caps it makes the handle feel bigger. Great rubber too.

@skihacker @Chef23 prepare to be shocked - I inquired with Randy last summer, in person when I was in Orlando, and they did not plan on offering different diameters. The website used to, and may still, allow you to choose the diameter size for the Ergo but that was a carry over from the straight handle ordering pages. They only offer the 1" diameter; even if you choose a different diameter on the ordering page.....I know because I ordered one with a smaller diameter and got the standard 1" diameter.

@dchristman Vs. your posting in Feb. 3rd: which one of the 5 handles floated? Would it

be the Glad Handle on the right?

In the early 1970's, I made the Ultra Handle, which was golf grips over an Aluminum holllow

foam-filled core. It DID float, and also passed the AWSA load specification. See

Rule: 8.04d. Worded differently now, but it used to be the handle had to take a load

of 700# without breaking.

The Ultra Handle was 6061T6 Aluminum, 13/16 OD and 1/8 wall. Think that it was the

first "golf grip" handle. Made about 350 of them. Sold for $25. An example of one is

at the Hall of Fame Museum.
