Baller rockdog Posted October 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2014 I haven't stopped completely yet, but after watching that and feeling every one one of those eyelid peelbacking stacks, retirement is not far off. I don't attempt new tricks anymore, standups longline is fun enough these days.

Baller TallSkinnyGuy Posted October 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2014 When you can duck and roll the falls aren't too bad, but I never like those face-plant falls that smack your face and wrench your back at the same time. Since I never really got the hang of the duck-and-roll fall I just quit. And I have no regrets.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted October 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 I never take hard falls footing. However, I did not foot once this season. There's s first.
Baller 6balls Posted October 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 16 years ago took a bare-footing driller...resulted in my first neck surgery. Prior to that in foot-stock endurance tourney took a fall over big rollers that my competitor fell on as well. Figured we were both doing down...held on for what I was worth and broke the rope in the fall...I still had the handle. Thankfully won the round and didn't have to re-ride cuz I was a wreck though would have gone after it. Have not fallen hard in many years...back bare-footing falls trying to learn were the worst. Almost never fall footing now....but I don't try new stuff and only do things I can pull off no problem. Like @razorskier1...did not foot this year which is a first since I was 12 y.o. Has been less and less over the years...but I'll be back. Next year plan to bring it all back...slalom, trick, jump if I can find one in the water, barefoot. After missing this season I really realized how much I miss towed fun on the water in any form (well, except wake-boarding...blah).
Baller_ Wish Posted October 23, 2014 Author Baller_ Share Posted October 23, 2014 @6balls I expect to see tubing on your list of fun towed watersports for next year.
Baller 6balls Posted October 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 @wish...probably not surprising but we used to tube on a tractor tire inner tube strapped to a line with a ski handle in the appropriate location with my dad pulling us in a padded barefoot suit, sweatpants and tennis shoes. The radar gun on a whip would have exploded. It was absolutely nut-so.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted October 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 Ya. Me and Dave saw some serious speed on those tubes! Bud was always laughing like crazy after he whipped you off the tune at 60mph.
Baller rodltg2 Posted October 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 Why I stopped tubing awhile back!!!
Baller Skoot1123 Posted October 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 I must say the folks at WBC are a blast. Ashleigh Stebbings and Ben Groen were awesome to work with. I'd love to go back some day.... But the falls????? THOSE were crazy! I try to use barefooting as a way to relax!!
